Equipment for outings

mountaineerGetting ready for an outing with the grandchildren can feel like preparing for a polar expedition:

"Emergency rations? Check. Crampons? Really?"

In case it’s been a while, here’s our checklist of things it’s helpful to have about you when leave the house:

  • Wet wipes
  • Drinks, rice cakes, sliced fruit and bread sticks, sandwiches
  • Groundsheet or old mac
  • Plastic bag for rubbish
  • Crayons and paper (for the drawing of dogs, flowers and footballers or playing noughts and crosses)
  • Empty jar for ‘finds’
  • A rucksack or strap-on bag, so you don’t lose your purse and keys!
  • Spare knickers or nappy – sometimes a potty in a plastic bag if you are at that stage!
  • Rain or sun gear
  • Tissues

Now we're going on that bear hunt....
