Kids are Baby Goats

We have 4 grandkids.... using 'kids' doesn't bother me.

Our children were always referred to as the kids and still are.

I don't like grandkids though. Always grandchildren to us.

I so agree, is it really so hard to say Child or Children ?????.

I call mine any old thing. They will probably get The Ghastlies on their Valentine cards.

Or. Ghastly kid 1. and Ghastly kid 2.

A rose by any other name... We always referred to our two as 'the kids'. I don't have a problem with the word at all. Now the grandchildren are sometimes called 'the kids', or 'the children'.

I called my grandchildren - the tots, have stopped now they are 24,19 and 16

I've always referred to my own 3 as the kids and now the grandchildren are also called grandkids... no problem using it.

I don't mind too much when children are referred to as 'kids' informally, but I do object when our well educated government ministers constantly refer to them as 'kids' when discussing government policy. (Used to keep goats, kids are delightful — though naughty — so perhaps at an informal level it is especially appropriate!)

I really don't think education policy or health policy should be discussed with reference to 'kids'. Apart from anything else, it is disrespectful.

I await the day when ministers talk about pensions as being paid to the old bats and old geezers. That'll light up Gransnet!

Our GCs all have names starting with the same letter so all ours are just known as 'the G's' and to differentiate G1, G2 etc.

See nothing really wrong in kids as it is not meant to be derogatory surely.

Collectively , I call the grandchildren ' the babies' . I call my daughters 'the kids' .

Yes, I agree politicians, news readers etc. should refer to them as children or when they reach double figures in age maybe young people.
I've always called mine 'kids' grandkids is not an expression I'd use. Ours are usually referred to as "the boys" (same mum 2 of) DD uses the same.

I hate the words kids and never ever use it. Why? - I do not know. It just feels unpleasant and disrespectful to me - like calling a woman a bitch.
My children are my children and that is that.

Don't really like the word kids, but kiddies is even worse. And don't get me started on 'hubby'

No I don't like 'kids' as a word but then I am quite pedantic about words- if it hurts my ears by that I mean its harsh or doesn't flow I don't like it.
