Came down stairs this morning after my shower to be greeted by 'your face is all lovely and shiny' from DH hmm

Take it as a compliment Anya, some men wouldn't notice if you came down starkers grin

janerowena Tue 24-Mar-15 14:58:22

Mine might say 'Aren't you cold?' ceecee.

Yes, that's a compliment. I think they sound like that. hmm I vaguely remember them. I get them still, they just sound more like 'You look tired'.

Charleygirl Tue 24-Mar-15 15:03:59

Anya that is definitely a compliment- it shows that he knows of your existence.

janerowena Tue 24-Mar-15 15:05:44

Exactly.

loopylou Tue 24-Mar-15 15:10:23

Almost any comment's a bonus grin

rosequartz Tue 24-Mar-15 15:11:47

Better than 'red and shiny' or 'blotchy and shiny' - or 'what's happened to your face?'
wink

Charleygirl Tue 24-Mar-15 15:25:48

I quite agree rosequartz

POGS Tue 24-Mar-15 15:35:40

I would be happy mine even acknowledged I was still living in the same house let alone make a complimentary remark.

He did say the word 'lovely' Anya. smile

Anya Tue 24-Mar-15 15:59:39

Yes, the sad thing is he did mean it as a compliment. He followed it up with 'you're looking better lately' grin

I put in on the 'Ask a Granddad* in case any of our male posters could explain how the male mind -- works-- operates.

Jane10 Tue 24-Mar-15 16:03:26

Oh dear. That's you damned with faint praise! He does sound as though he's trying though.

Anya Tue 24-Mar-15 16:05:49

Ys, he's very trying!

merlotgran Tue 24-Mar-15 16:14:45

Mine would definitely say, 'What have you done to your face?'

That's if he noticed anything hmm

Grannynise Tue 24-Mar-15 17:14:38

When I told him, a few years ago, that I'd been inappropriately touched in a crowded tube train my DH merely said " There are some very weird people about." I'm quite sure that wasn't a compliment.

loopylou Tue 24-Mar-15 17:21:29

grin
Thanks given I assume Grannynise!

grumppa Tue 24-Mar-15 17:29:26

Anya, every man sees his wife as a picture of perfection, so inevitably he is occasionally lost for words to express himself adequately when he beholds the vision before him.

Pity us poor chaps!

ninathenana Tue 24-Mar-15 18:35:26

If you say so grumpa smile

loopylou Tue 24-Mar-15 18:43:08

hmm..........

jenn Tue 24-Mar-15 21:43:31

good answer grumpa.

Charleygirl Tue 24-Mar-15 21:48:28

Anya May I have the temerity to ask if you have been looking better lately, how did you look before? Did you notice any difference?!

Anya Tue 24-Mar-15 22:18:41

Charley that's what I've been wondering myself! The only difference is a slight change of hair style.

Grumppa I think I'd prefer if he would stay lost for words smile

rosequartz Tue 24-Mar-15 22:26:18

Not a full face-lift then grin
Amazing what happens in the shower
(Remember Bobby in Dallas?)

Anya Tue 24-Mar-15 22:28:12

And of course Psycho!

grumppa Tue 24-Mar-15 22:40:11

A sort of still unravish'd groom of quietness, Anya?
