What does it mean when you see messages posted with crossing through.

As a complete computer novice, are there any other things I should know?

I am loving Gransnet. Have been up half the night look back on old Chats and exploring the forums

It just means we're arsing around! If you want to cross something through put two dashes immediately before and immediately after what you want crossed out! grin

Mor fun instructions down at the bottom below where you post a new message. Just scroll down and you'll see them.

mgwnzy It doesn't really mean anything in particular It's just a jokey way to make a point. For example, someone might post something such as "I'm off now to gorge on smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches followed by chocolate mousse and whipped cream eat a healthy lunch." It's a kind of written version of saying something tongue in cheek. smile

That sounds like a very healthy lunch to me, absent, except perhaps for the gorging bit. Doesn't do to overeat you know! wink

Greatnan Mon 14-May-12 10:25:36

Please don't talk about over-eating - I have had to get rid of everything that won't keep in the fridge for a week, so I have had big bowl of salad and two yoghurts. My sister always has a lovely cooked dinner waiting for me when I arrive but my flight is not until 5 p.m. your time and I will have to pick up a hire car, so at least I won't be having dinner until about 8 p.m. I feel bloated - I have got out of the habit of big meals.

Of course, having been dull all weekend, it is now bright sunshine here - I am about to look at the forecast for Manchester. Gr................

Well I like that meal! Yesterday at the Eden Project I read that in the UK we eat 10kg of chocolate a year. I haven't had all of mine yet so must buck up and get on with it. After all if the EP says it it must be right! I feel it is my duty to help those poor people who grow it.

absentgrana Mon 14-May-12 11:27:38

AlisonMA I'm not keen on chocolate and rarely eat it, so you can have my 10 kg if you like. smile

AlisonMA Mon 14-May-12 11:30:07

Yes please absent. Have you also got some fantastic means of losing the extra weight?

glammanana Mon 14-May-12 13:14:41

Wow 10kg,just think how much space that would take up in my fridge, the chocolate that I buy is very very special !! it can shout from inside the fridge door "eat me" all by it's self.grin

soop Mon 14-May-12 13:52:43

glamma Yay! grin

AlisonMA Mon 14-May-12 15:14:55

Glamma, most chocolate does that to me but not Nestle, won't touch any of their products because, in my opinion, they are not ethical.

JessM Mon 14-May-12 15:35:34

Like Glamma I've been to visit the dentist this week - and also to visit the dental technician who's making my new crowns (Kerching, that'll be £700 please!!). I was very impressed with the technicians who took a great deal of trouble to exactly match my own tooth colour. It's a vanity purchase as I had the teeth done 20+ years ago and the work was shoddy, leaving me with ill matched crowns. One of them in particular is huge and sticks out and looks what it is: a badly made crown. I see it immediately on any photo in which I'm smiling and I do so want to have a nice smile for the wedding photo's; so I'll be paying up. (Through my gritted, but hopefully attractive, new teeth.) grin
