It's 11.37 and I've done nothing other than Gransnet and FB!!!! I'm ashamed of myself (hangs head) but you're all so much more interesting than stacking the dishwasher etc!! I must go and get organised-meeting friends at 1.....right, I'm off. Byeeeee for now !

Do you really need to fill the dishwasher, use any dishes you have in your cupboard and promise to start again to-morrow,meanwhile enjoy your meeting with your friends.

I'm an expert at procrastinating especially since finding Gransnet :/!
I have done 3 hours studying and housework can wait a bit longer I'm sure.
I need deadlines to spur me in to action I'm afraid hmm

I am sitting watching "Mrs Miniver" on the television. There is something great about a good black and white film.
Loopylou what are you studying?

I'm doing a return to nursing course involving university theory days and hospital ward shifts - there's a set minimum and maximum number of supernumerary (unpaid!) hours depending on how many years since your Nursing & Midwifery Council PIN number lapsed. I have between 100 and 200 hours to do before beginning of May.
It's hard work trying to wake up long dormant brain cells hmm!
Just as well not a returning midwife - 450 hours regardless of how long since last practice.

Good for you. Loopy, how long is it since you left nursing?

8 years, but not worked in an acute hospital for 30 years, so everything's new to me smile

Out of interest loopy are you being paid to do the Returner course?

When I did mine around 2004 I was paid £1000 for the six-week course, plus given £100 book allowance.

Hi Riverwalk I get a £1000 bursary paid in two instalments (beginning and halfway through) but no book allowance.
Midwives returning only get £500.
The course is 7 days at university between January and May plus the 100-200 hours on the ward to pass a whole raft of competencies hmm!
Have also to submit essays, pass a maths test, compile a portfolio and various other tasks.........
Do wonder what the hell I'm doing!

I'm surprised at the £500 for midwives - there's supposed to be an acute shortage.
