Never one of my favourites but another one from my era. Sad for her family sad

There is nothing on the BBC News website to confirm this
Mick

There is plenty of confirmation on the internet, though.

She was one of those I thought would somehow go on forever...

Anya Sun 02-Aug-15 13:10:40

It's true as I've just googled it. Says natural causes.

granjura Sun 02-Aug-15 13:14:55

So surprised here, as she looked so well and well preserved...

Always wondered why she suddenly came back and so active on the scene after disappearing for many years. Was it a heart attack?

tanith Sun 02-Aug-15 13:23:22

I wasn't a fan but very sad for her family and fans of course.

Scooter58 Sun 02-Aug-15 13:26:54

RIP Cilla x

dustyangel Sun 02-Aug-15 13:34:25

sad she was part of my youth. I'm sorry for her family.

whitewave Sun 02-Aug-15 13:36:18

Gosh! What a shock for her family - poor things.

merlotgran Sun 02-Aug-15 13:40:18

She once said she didn't want to live beyond 70. I didn't think much of that remark at the time but it was strangely prophetic.

RIP Cilla.

I'm shocked too - she was part of my youth. I saw her a couple of times on 'Mersey Beat Tours' in the 60s. I also took my Nan to see her in Blackpool. Really sad day for her family.

To coin a phrase 'she was no age', was she? sad

Teetime Sun 02-Aug-15 13:54:07

I heard it on the Classic FM news about an hour ago. Again I wasn't a fan. Its good to hear it was natural causes and at home so hopefully she wasn't in distress. I heard Lionel Blair on the radio who was terribly upset.

whitewave Sun 02-Aug-15 13:56:15

That chap who does dog programmes was a close friend I think. He will be sad.

merlotgran Sun 02-Aug-15 14:05:41

Paul O'Grady and Christopher Biggins were close friends. So was Cliff Richard, I think.

AshTree Sun 02-Aug-15 14:24:13

I was genuinely shocked and quite saddened when my daughter ran upstairs to tell me this news. I always liked Cilla - perhaps not all her shows, but I liked her. Another part of my teenage years gone sad.

She once said she didnt want to live beyond 70

Stuart Baggs from the Apprentice apparently said last year on Come Dine with me "I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time, and I want to live hard, die young". He died aged 27 this week.

Thought provoking.

I liked what I saw of Cilla Black too.

Atqui Sun 02-Aug-15 14:52:51

She seemed as normal as you can be in the entertainment business. I believe she had a happy family life.Apparently she suffered with deafness and arthritis recently

annodomini Sun 02-Aug-15 15:06:55

It's sad. She was younger than me. A great entertainer and an attractive personality.

Nelliemoser Sun 02-Aug-15 15:24:06

Oh how sad! She she really was an icon of our generation. I liked her.

shabby Sun 02-Aug-15 15:52:21

Such a shame she was never made a dame. RIP Cilla reunited with your one true love Bobby xxx

glammanana Sun 02-Aug-15 15:53:30

What a shock that news is,I feel for her family she adored them.
RIP Cilla.

Bellasnana Sun 02-Aug-15 16:27:01

I really liked her as a singer. She had a good voice and some memorable songs. Never knew the TV presenter side of her as, living abroad, we did not get the relevant shows.

It is sad that she has gone, but we all have to go one day and far better for a quick end than a long-drawn out illness, or sitting in a home waiting for the grim reaper. That's just my opinion, of course. RIP Cilla sad
