I saw this at the weekend. I find it sad it spoils the magic.

Totally incongruous in the middle of summer and def spoils the magic! Let's keep Xmas in December.

DH and I have just finished going over all the ages of our DGC and great neices and nephews, and writing a list of gifts to buy for Christmas. DD has nearly FINISHED her Christmas shopping. How organised!

When I lived in New York for several years I was always glad the shops started selling their Xmas goodies in August. I was able to buy Xmas items not available in N.Y. For example Xmas pudding and crackers. Of course now I'm saying 'already!!'.

There's another Christmas shop in Pitlochry, but they don't keep Christmas card diaries which is annoying as mine ran out last year (I know it's a First World problem, but I like having one which has people's addresses in, complete with postcodes so that I know where I can find them).

Apart from that, I find it depressing to think that we are being asked to get into the stramash that is Christmas again! I would like to think that none of it would start before October at the earliest. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to buy a 2016 calendar to remind you of your summer holidays!

One can always ignore it.

Badenkate Wed 05-Aug-15 19:38:28

If you try to take crackers on a plane now dorsetpennt, you'd have to take out all the bangs! I had a friend who wanted to bring some back to Switzerland and she stood in front if the check-in desk eviscerating crackers

Yes, but it's annoying when it becomes more difficult to get birthday card for someone with a birthday in October, November or December because the racks are taken up with Christmas cards! I know the birthday cards could be bought in June, but then I would put them in a safe place and we all know what happens to safe places. hmm
