I thought it might be fun to do something along the lines of Desert Island Discs on here: The whole thing may be a bit much. How about we all give the ONE disc we would take with us, and the reason why. Also a Book, and that all important Luxury.

I will jump in feet first with mine:
Disc " Penny Lane" The Beatles. Very difficult to choose one disc, but this takes me right back to being a teenager in Liverpool. I didn't actually have a great Childhood, but this reminds me of the happier times.

Book: Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake. I chose this because it will keep me going for some time. I am reading it now, but I get so little time to read that it seems to go on forever. It is one of those books though that really takes you to another place.

Luxury: Lots and lots of stationary, really nice good quality paper, pens and pencils.

Cannot wait to read everyone else's

Yes Annie, I should have said , but I think the castaways get the Bible and complete works of Shakespeare anyway, so the book you choose will be another one, sorry I left that out

Anniebach Wed 24-Aug-16 16:07:10

And complete.works.of the Beatles if that's not too greedy.smile

Anniebach Wed 24-Aug-16 16:59:06

One extra wish, that Man Friday be in the guise of Aiden Turner, PLEASE!!!

Alima Wed 24-Aug-16 17:57:23

Oops, forgot my luxury item. That would be my new-generation solar-powered iPad. (We get BT hotspots, sorted!)

Greyduster Wed 24-Aug-16 21:27:44

Bach's Well Tempered Clavier;
Trollope's Barchester Chronicles;
A salt water fly fishing kit and a box of flies. If I didn't catch anything, and I managed not to starve, my casting would hopefully have improved no end by the time I was rescued!

grumppa Wed 24-Aug-16 22:04:40

Brahms Hungarian Dances to remind me of daughters' ballet prowess. At one time my choice of book was Thomas Malory, but it occurred to me that a diet of the Mort d'Arthur, Shakaspeare and the King James Bible might make me unintelligible, or apparently insane, to an eventual rescuer. So I have settled for Proust.

Deedaa Wed 24-Aug-16 22:19:30

I think it would have to be Mozart's Requiem for the record.

How to choose a book? I think perhaps the complete works of Terry Pratchett.

Paper and pencils would keep me happy for ages.

Good Grief you are all so greedy smile I think MAYBE complete sets of books but not complete works are ok. NO to the Ipad, and most certainly NO to a man Friday. Kirsty would not allow all this lol and neither will I.
Shelter and fresh water is NOT a luxury, you have to build your own shelter, do none of you listen to this programme?

I shall throw my rattle from the pram in a minute if you don't all behave shock
