Does this happen in your house ..... you switch the tv on to find a film you've seen hundreds of times before but think 'oh I'll watch this'. Even though you've seen them loads of times you still enjoy them. In Tatty's house our guilty pleasures include Die Hard , The Running Man , Aliens , any Indiana Jones, Oh and dare I admit it Predator.

I'll do that even if I've got a dvd of the film [which I probably won't have watched. Last of the Mohicans is one that I can watch over and over again [but I've never sat down and watched the dvd of it].

Pretty Woman, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Calamity Jane and, best of all, West Side Story. I've mentioned before that my 25 year old daughter still cries at the end of WSS even though she has watched it so much that she can recite it word for word confused

The Railway Children and still cry at 62 blush

Not really films but 'Goodnight Mr Tom' 'the Secret Garden' and 'Tom's Midnight Garden' . The one film I found I had to stay up to watch to the end was 'The Deer Hunter' but I found it so distressing I have never been able to watch it a second time.

Brief Encounter - still weep a bit at that! smile

whenim64 Wed 08-Aug-12 09:01:06

As Good as it Gets, Brief Encounter, Singin' in the Rain, Love Actually, Midnight Cowboy, Get Carter, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (in fact, anything with Michael Caine in it).

The Naked Gun films do it for me. Even though I know all the jokes by heart, I still find myself falling about laughing.

Annobel Wed 08-Aug-12 09:11:10

Some Like it Hot. Funniest film of all time in my opinion.

grrrranny Wed 08-Aug-12 09:11:19

Local Hero, My Cousin Vinnie, The Full Monty and any of the Fred and Ginger films.

The Nun's Story Audrey Hepburn and Out of Africa Meryl Streep are my two best films and I like to watch them alone - no-one must speak to me and the phone mustnt ring - lost in the story and I am both a Nun and a coffee planter.

Blimey susie that sounds dangerous! grin

gracesmum Wed 08-Aug-12 10:53:57

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Calamity Jane I have watched so many times since I first saw them at the cinema as a child.

I am about to watch Donny Darko again for about the fifth time.

Went the Day Well, The Searchers, new film Winter's Bone, new version of True Grit, The Fifth Element, The Princess Bride, The Lady Vanishes, The Red Shoes,Bad Day at Black Rock.....I won't go on. Thank goodness for DVDs

crimson Wed 08-Aug-12 13:47:33

Good selection there Lilygran; the only one I couldn't gt on with was the new version of True Grit [still prefer the original]. I've got a really old video of The Princess Bride complete with some sort of board game, and keep meaning to read the book. Have you seen Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games? She's got a mesmerising face, hasn't she. Can't wait to get the dvd of The Hunger Games as I wen to the loo at a really crucial part of the film and need to see it again!

Lilygran Wed 08-Aug-12 13:52:30

Thank you, Crimson. Haven't seen The Hunger Games yet...will try to get DVD

It's out in a couple of weeks. Similar role in a way to Winters Bone. Probably my favourite actress at the moment.

ninathenana Wed 08-Aug-12 17:31:52

Lilygran my dad took my mum to she "The Red Shoes" when they first met. She hated it so much she nearly refused to see him again grin grin
