Saw it the other night. Had mixed reviews so wasn't surprised to be bored out of my head watching it. Never read the book, but wish I'd read the excellent pull out that was in the Observer. Try not to know too much about a film before I see it, but a bit of background information would have helped with this one, expecially as nothing much actually happened. Two men drive a car, get up to lots of hanky panky with lots of women, smoke a lot, do drugs a lot and drink a lot. And this repeats itself over and over again. The unfilmable film of a ground breaking book; just wish they'd left in unfilmed. The Independant has a habit of giving awful films 4 star ratings but I never learn form my mistakes. However, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Looper, Brave and Holy Motors should appease my disgruntlement.
