ostrich steaks

Just eaten some from Iceland DH and I agree they are delicious.

Yum. My favourite. How steak should be and rarely is.

There is virtually no fat in them, so you have to cook them hotly and briefly, either under a very hot grill quickly, or fried quickly. The steaks are fairly thin, so it only takes a very short time. If you do it too slowly they dry out. They are excellent for diabetics and people trying to lose weight, and are extremely tender. I used to live near an ostrich farm in Lincs.

DH fried them for a minute or two each side. Served with jacket pot mushrooms and peas.

phoenix I meant to say I think the flavour is too delicate for a sauce, much better eaten plain.
