just going to log out and make us a snack [DH calling for some hungrily] and watch some tv.Can't decide, crunchy nut cornflakes, cheese and crackers [some nice Wensleydale with cran berries in the fridge] or just a cup of tea and digestive biscuit.Find having a little something aids sleep later, what do others like to have?

soz, that should read can't decide.

I would tell DH to get his own snack, and try to resist the temptation myself.

I just went foraging, hoping for some cheese and crackers but, alas, only had one cracker left sad. So I've got 3 shortbread biscuits.
If I have trouble sleeping, tossing and turning for an hour or more without dropping off, I come downstairs and have a camomile tea and something to eat, usually carbohydrates of some sort or another. Nearly always does the trick.

I just had crackers and cheese, don't normally snack this late but I forgot to take my meds as we were out at a family BBQ and needed to eat something to take them..

We watched 'Patton' on Film4+1 and it was so long we didn't have our meal till nearly 9

ninathenana Mon 27-Jun-16 07:22:24

I would usually have a couple of slices of toast or a small bowel of cereal. Occasionally cheese and crackers.

We don't always have supper but if we have had a light dinner (salad) we might have a weeny piece of cheese and a couple of crackers.

rosesarered Mon 27-Jun-16 09:21:00

I wish that I had only had a weeny bit of cheese last night blush that cranberry cheese is so gorgeous ( but it gave me dreams that I was presenting a gardening programme and had forgotten all thenames of the plants!)
I find that something for supper does help me sleep better, so would prefer a light meal earlier on and a bite to eat between 10 and midnight.

I'm diabetic, and if I don't have a snack at bedtime, my blood glucose can be way too high in the morning - and it climbs until I eat something, which I have to wait for an hour after my thyroid pills to do.
So I have a glass of red wine and maybe a handful of almonds or a Ryvita and cheese every night.

Beatrix Potter said that "eating too much lettuce can be soporific, but it wouldn't be my go to snack at bedtime! I prefer a slice of plain bread (any kind) and butter. Nothing else needed.

I try not to eat or drink after dinner. I will say though I do sometimes like a square or 2 of chocolate in the early evening.

Love the tenor of your dreams..........do you get them from Waitrose? My cheap cheese dreams are all about not having enough money and being flooded again..............

westieyaya Mon 27-Jun-16 12:42:40

My snackette late evening is thin rice cakes with a little, though it doesn't fit in with the 8 hour eating regime

westieyaya Mon 27-Jun-16 12:43:11

That should've said cheese!

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 27-Jun-16 12:45:42

That's a good one. I like to add spread and cheese to couple of rice cakes, although it does completely take away the diet benefit! shock

My father would smack us if we snacked!sad so now i very rarely do - only fruit occasionally while watching TV.

carerof123 Mon 27-Jun-16 14:46:05

glass of cold milk and some rich tea biscuits does it for me!!! lol

chrissyh Mon 27-Jun-16 15:24:40

ninathenana it made me laugh that you had a small 'bowel' full of cereal. I know what you meant - probably, as I hear so often recently, bloody predictive text.

rosesarered Mon 27-Jun-16 15:54:59

Dairy and carbs seem to do the trick of getting people to sleep.
westie I like the term snackette and shall use it from now on.smile

Gaggi3 Mon 27-Jun-16 16:23:53

A friend used to refer to "bijou drinkettes", though they weren't often that bijou.
