We went to visit friends in Edinburgh in the middle of August. On the way up we stayed in a lovely boutique type hotel in Harrogate £90 per night. 2 nights with friends in Edinburgh then off to Oban for another 2 nights, hotel there was £130 per night but it had a good view overlooking the bay. Back to friends in Edinburgh for a further 2 nights and then an overnight stop, small hotel in Windermere £90 per night. This hotel had complimentary homemade biscuits in the room, a nice touch. Our hotels included breakfast in their prices. They were all lovely old Victorian houses once They had big rooms that were nicely furnished. I would add that the en suite facilities, had lovely power showers, but were nevertheless cramped, as they had been fashioned by taking a chunk out of the main room. The accommodation you describe sounds very spacious Granjura, I would expect to pay £100 plus for something of that nature with those spectacular views, but I guess if you are doing friends and family rates, £70 - £80 sounds reasonable and a free night is a good incentive for a longer stay. Whilst we took holidays in France every year when our children were young, haven't been for a while, so out of touch with the prices there.
