I wonder what happened?! In her NY apartment.

Grannyknot Mon 17-Mar-14 17:49:21

I see from Twitter, apparent suicide. "Found hanged" sad

Anne58 Mon 17-Mar-14 17:51:48

They have just said the same on Radio 4.

God, that's horrible! What a way to do it.

whenim64 Mon 17-Mar-14 17:53:09

Oh no! I heard it just now on the news. Mick Jagger has said he is 'devastated.'

merlotgran Mon 17-Mar-14 17:57:25

How awful. They'd been together quite a long time hadn't they?

Grannyknot Mon 17-Mar-14 17:58:28

Her name used to really annoy me - till I worked out it was just a fancy way of spelling "Lauren".

She would always be smiling in photos. I'm sure he is devastated, they have been together for a number of years.

Yes, 13 apparently. Hanging must be such a horrible way to go...

KatyK Mon 17-Mar-14 18:07:37

terrible. poor girl must have been struggling. i wish people would talk. outwardly a fabulous life. obviously a different story inwardly.

Anne58 Mon 17-Mar-14 18:20:29

Didn't Alexander McQueen do the same?

KatyK Mon 17-Mar-14 18:31:27

I believe he did phoenix

Soutra Mon 17-Mar-14 18:50:54

How awful. Goes to show that other people's lives , however glamorous they may seem are not always to be envied.sad

Sad to feel so desperate that life isn't worth living. However, if one gets the knot right, hanging is a very quick way to die as the neck snaps instantly. Of course, if one gets the knot wrong, it can take quite a long time to suffocate.

How sad, she looked so full of energy, vitality, life.

How sad that after 13 years she didn't feel able to ask Mick for help. Her debts would have been a tiny drop compared to his wealth. I'm sure he would rather have helped her turn her business round than have her dead.

Grannyknot Tue 18-Mar-14 08:07:27

Pride? Who knows what complexities goes on in the minds of people who are losing their ability to think rationally. Asking for help seems so obvious.

I've noticed criticism from some quarters about her death being reported (as I did) as "the partner of Mick Jagger" rather than as a person in her own right. In my defence, I only really knew of her as Mick Jagger's rather striking, girlfriend, who always seemed to have a smile on her face.

feetlebaum Tue 18-Mar-14 08:46:23

Apparently her business was over £4-million in debt...

Tegan Tue 18-Mar-14 09:06:43

I feel terribly sorry for her assistant who was asked to 'drop by later'; it must have been awful for her, although I do understand that at that time L'Wren wouldn't have been thinking coherently.

Very sad that anyone feels so bereft. I once heard this saying, 'suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem.'
One must feel for those left behind. X

Anne58 Tue 18-Mar-14 10:57:02

I do wonder, given the conversation with the assistant, if she had rather hoped to be found and saved, but I suppose we will never know.

Tegan Tue 18-Mar-14 11:00:47

Oh dear; I hadn't thought of that sad.

KatyK Tue 18-Mar-14 11:08:56

I know from personal experience (as do others on here) the horrendous shock of suicide. Even if you know someone is struggling you are never prepared. sad
