I had heard that Lynda Bellingham had cancer but hadn't realised it was this bad. I've always liked her on screen. I can still remember well her oxo adverts.
She always seems so happy & energetic. What a brave lady!

Oh dear, my link didn't work.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 28-Sep-14 12:20:17

Yes, I saw that yesterday. Apparently she has only weeks, and she is going to choose when the time is right. So sad.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 28-Sep-14 12:25:00

Poor woman. And poor family.

JulieGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 28-Sep-14 12:25:19

Oh dear. I don't think link's work on titles sad. Would you like us to meddle with this, posie?

posie Sun 28-Sep-14 12:48:07

JulieGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 28-Sep-14 13:03:38

posie Sun 28-Sep-14 13:05:56

Will do. Leave it to us wink

merlotgran Sun 28-Sep-14 14:07:34

jingl's link works.

I think it's terribly sad. I used to tease DH about 'fancying' her in the OXO days.

Didn't she also replace Carol Drinkwater as James Herriot's wife?

glammanana Sun 28-Sep-14 14:14:12

merlot yes you're right she did,she has always played mumsie type roles and she has always been around as long as I can remember such a shame her story to-day was so sad to read she is a real inspiration and will be sadly missed flowers

Charleygirl Sun 28-Sep-14 14:54:23

Apparently she has colon cancer which has metastasised. She wants to stop chemotherapy in November so that she can have her last Christmas with family if possible and then possibly die in January. So very sad.

chloe1984 Sun 28-Sep-14 15:19:03

Read the article in today's paper so very sad.

rosequartz Sun 28-Sep-14 15:56:28

I don't think I can read it; she always seems such a lovely person and a good actress. So sad.

janerowena Sun 28-Sep-14 16:00:28

I read it online, I did read that she had cancer a while ago but how very sad, she and the oxo family were such a reassuring image to me at a time of a rocky marriage.

Kiora Sun 28-Sep-14 17:42:39

It is very sadsad

rosequartz Sun 28-Sep-14 18:33:01

In fact I have now read it and she still has her sense of humour - what a wonderful lady! And what an absolute bugger awful thing to happen.

KatyK Mon 29-Sep-14 14:24:40

I watched Loose Women as they said she may try to phone in. She is having chemo today and the staff wouldn't let her phone in but she sent an email which they read out. She thanked everyone for their support and said how much she appreciated it. sad Poor lady. She always seems so full of fun.

Teetime Mon 29-Sep-14 14:45:45

I read about it on Facebook yesterday so was able to send a message via this. Its desperately sad- she is only 68. I feel a link to her when she was the OXO lady as my friends little boy used to think that was me and I was pleased he thought me like her. She has always seemed such a warm and clever actress - loved Faith in the Future- I think she deserved more TV shows of her own.

KatyK Mon 29-Sep-14 15:36:44

Is she 68? I heard 66. Not that it matters, it's horrible whatever age.

Thistledoo Mon 29-Sep-14 16:01:56

Oh poor lady,I loved her as an actress, she was so natural. Truly inspirational. Yes she did play James Herriot's wife, she was the perfect person for the part. So sad for her family.

absentgrandma Mon 29-Sep-14 16:06:43

it is such sad news ,but I admire Linda immensely for her brave decision. I have always said if I am diagnosed with cancer I won't have chemo or any other invasive treatment the 'specialists' try to foist on me. I will enjoy life to the end and die with all my hair, and all my 'bits'..... not spend my last precious months in a treatment room, staring at the walls. Nor do I want my family wearing silly ribbons or running marathons after I've gone. I want them to get on with thier lives.

Bravo Linda flowers

nigglynellie Mon 29-Sep-14 16:36:08

I agree absentgrandma. I feel exactly the same, but I am now getting on a bit (!!!!) and feel, like you that I would much rather let nature take it's course and for the family to get on with their lives after I've gone.
Poor poor Linda, I have always liked her so much, and thought she played James Herriot's wife so well. What a horrible thing to have happened to her, the news really upset me. Such a brave lady. When oh when will there be a proper breakthrough in tackling this vilest of diseases?

feetlebaum Mon 29-Sep-14 17:01:56

It's not a disease - it's a whole selection of diseases... Yes - Linda B is one brave lady.

nigglynellie Mon 29-Sep-14 18:14:04

I know that feetlebaum! My OH has had a brush with the big C, so far is doing well. My stepfather died of 'C' as did my much loved cousin. I was using the word 'disease' collectively and I should have used commas to indicate that!
