It's official! Hillary Clinton is running for President of the USA! What do you think? America got its first black president with Obama, are they ready for their first woman President?

janeainsworth Sun 12-Apr-15 22:04:53

I sure hope so Soutra!
Go Hillary grin

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 22:10:03

I have a lot of time for her, highly intelligent, she showed true statesmanship as part of Obama's administration and has a self-deprecating sense of humour , as in "When I want to knock a story off the front pages, I just change my hairstyle"!

Lona Sun 12-Apr-15 22:10:45

Madam President! Yes!

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 22:15:07

And she is a Granny -maybe a member already? grin

whenim64 Sun 12-Apr-15 22:19:32

I'm pleased about this. She comes across as a woman who doesn't want to prove she's the most powerful person in the world. I can imagine the anti-Clinton machine will go all out to sabotage her campaign. She's ready to tackle the National Rifle Assocation and constitutional issues like the right to bear arms. I hope she wins.

Don't ask Hillary about abortion if you can't handle her answer
For anyone who missed it first time round.

Tegan Sun 12-Apr-15 22:44:32

Wow; respect!!

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 23:21:15

She is good, articulate, thoughtful, reasoned and merciless.

Ana Sun 12-Apr-15 23:22:24

Is 'merciless' a good thing, then?

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 23:28:08

Maybe not quite the word I meant, but "takes no prisoners" in a debate. By "merciless" I meant she stays calm, 100% in control, is not fazed, knows her stuff, is incisive and can deal with opposition without losing her cool. (Still trying to think of the synonym I had originally had in mind!!)

Assiduous? Unyielding? Conscientious? Diligent? Resolute? Sedulous?

janeainsworth Mon 13-Apr-15 07:14:22

Uncompromising?

Soutra Mon 13-Apr-15 07:18:27

Yep, all of those! My excuse, "brain-tired" when I posted last nightblush

Iam64 Mon 13-Apr-15 07:53:58

I was delighted to see Hilary is to stand and hope she becomes president

Falconbird Mon 13-Apr-15 07:54:27

Good Luck Hilary - you're an inspiration.

ffinnochio Mon 13-Apr-15 08:25:41

Awesome! High-five Hilary Clinton.

moomin Mon 13-Apr-15 08:43:48

Yes, "go" Hillary smile

Teetime Mon 13-Apr-15 09:07:18

YES! I'd back Hilary definitely.

hildajenniJ Mon 13-Apr-15 09:21:45

I would vote for her. I have enormous respect for Hilary.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 13-Apr-15 09:29:53

She will be 69!!! Would you have the energy? And she's not been without the occasional cock-up. I admire her enormously, but other candidates will emerge.

Liz46 Mon 13-Apr-15 09:45:09

I don't know much about American politics or the exact circumstances of the link posted by janeainsworth but wasn't it good to hear a question put without interruption and then, more importantly, an answer without interruption? The pantomime that we see in our parliament is very annoying.

Yes, I also admire Hilary Clinton and would be interested in learning more about her policies.

henetha Mon 13-Apr-15 10:12:59

Good luck Hilary. I hope she becomes America's first female President.

AlieOxon Mon 13-Apr-15 10:15:45

Go, Hilary !!

KatyK Mon 13-Apr-15 10:46:14

I think Hillary is fantastic. I saw her interviewed on This Morning last year and she was full of fun. The presenters said afterwards she had shaken hands with all of the crew and asked them about their families etc. To be honest though, I don't know anything about her political views.
