How could anyone do that?

Just heard on Radio 4 news that a woman who was (I think) 32 weeks pregnant has miscarried after being knocked to the ground by 2 men who then proceeded to kick and stamp on her stomach.

Worse than animals.

That is so unbelievably savage and sick, I struggle to understand how anyone could do that.

Mishap Wed 17-Jun-15 19:01:32

Heavens above - what must they be thinking of. How very sad.

Anya Wed 17-Jun-15 19:06:49

It seems the baby was the target sad

What kind of scum can do something like this?

loopylou Wed 17-Jun-15 19:08:47

Bring back the birch.
Or capital punishment (yes, I know I'll get shot down for saying that)

AshTree Wed 17-Jun-15 19:17:49

You won't get shot down by me loopy. I don't care what the provocation, what the reason, nothing, absolutely nothing, can justify such a sick attack. It is murder in my mind. That baby could have survived if she'd just gone into early labour.

Was this attack here in Britain? I would say " unbelievable" but know only too well that this sick behaviour happens.I would like to kick and stamp on them.

It's so awful.

Yes, it was in this country roses.

The police have caught one perpetrator, he's in Court this morning- the girl remains critically ill in ICU.
I hope he gets locked up and the key thrown away.

vampirequeen Thu 18-Jun-15 10:32:53

Unfortunately he won't be charged with murder because the baby was still in the womb even though at 32 weeks it would have been viable had she simply gone into early labour.

What a sickening, horrible crime. How could anyone be so evil? Was he under the influence of drugs, possibly? I hope they lock him up for ever.

harrigran Thu 18-Jun-15 13:45:00

Under the influence of drugs or alcohol is no mitigation. Bring back the most severe punishment for these crimes.

Mishap Thu 18-Jun-15 13:47:33

There was a hint that he had some connection to the poor woman involved and she was deliberately targeted.

ninathenana Thu 18-Jun-15 14:09:34

A truly horrific crime.
DH and I both think he's the father and didn't want the child or her partner and the child wasn't his.
In no way a judgement on the poor woman, just speculation.
I wish her a speedy recovery for her physical injuries, the mental damage will no doubt take a long time.

whitewave Thu 18-Jun-15 14:14:38

I can't even think about it.

Anya Thu 18-Jun-15 14:29:52

Said on lunch time news there is to be an investigation into why the ambulance service didn't respond to the 999 call and it was an hour before they arrived.

Anne58 Thu 18-Jun-15 15:17:33

Anya that's disgraceful!

I believe he is being charged with child destruction, among other things.

Deedaa Thu 18-Jun-15 21:57:31

I thought this was beyond horrific. The perpetrators deserve far more than they will probably get. They say the poor woman has appalling internal injuries and you have to wonder if she will be able to have another baby.

I feel sorry for the police officers who had to deal with this and get the poor girl to hospital. It must have been traumatic for them.
