Have you seen footage of Alastair Brownlee stopping and virtually carrying his brother Jonny over the finishing line at the World Series triathlon. It brought a tear to my old cynical eye. How proud must their parents be. Even prouder, I'd say, than when they got their Olympic medals. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/triathlon/37402716

I have seen it a couple of times and it certainly was brotherly love.

tear jerking stuff - lovely

Very touching, I agree but how does it work that if somebody helps you for the last few yards and then over the line you still get a medal?

triathlon competitors can give help to other competitors - it happens on the bike ride too, esp if doing Ironman etc - if you have a puncture and someone else has a spare inner tube or co2 canister they will stop to help - but non-competitors are not allowed to offer assistance.

I didn't think he got a medal. I thought it was more a case of actually crossing the line.
I had to smile at the interview with Alastair where he implied Jonny had been an idiot not to cruise the last few hundred yards.
Heartwarming to watch.

had he won that race (or even come 4th) he would have won the world series - but the guy who came 5th pipped him so Johnny got the silver in the world series.

It was the true meaning of Sportsmanship wasn't it.

Yes, it was lovely, very moving; I bet their parents are proud.

good sportsmanship and brother love. Don't often see those things go hand in hand, and great that it has received so much publicity. Well down the Brownlee Brothers.

They do seem to have a lovely relationship. What a nice family the Brownlees must be.

Definitely brought a tear to the eye! I'm not really into sports normally, but that will be a moment I remember. What lovely boys.

That relationship between boys must be rare. Don't think mine would have been as generous. They must be so close.
