This is going to catch up with Soop's Kitchen extensions in no time.
The referendum wasn't a competition to see who would win or lose. It was making a very serious decision about the future of the country. Whether the correct choice has been made remains a very moot point. I think that in a couple of years not much will have changed for the man in the street - we will just have spent a huge amount of money organising our exit and there still won't be any money left over for all the things we were promised.
Deedaa exactly my thoughts.
Deedaa There are a lot of people reading this thread who understood my meaning.
I thought the BBC London news this evening was doing an advertising trailer for Frankfurt encouraging London business to move to Frankfurt as a result of Brexit. They said after yesterday's broadcast, also about Frankfurt and how keen the Germans were to attract London firms there, the mayor of Frankfurt said they'd had lots of enquiries from London based businesses. Are the beeb trying to push us unto recession. Unbelievable.
Well post referendum I have seriously questioned the agenda of the BBC on several occasions and for the first time in my life feel cynical about them.Driving around I have started listening to local radio more and more.
jevive73 No surprise there. On the morning of 24 June you could almost see them crying into their lattes. David dimbleby looked almost apoplectic.
Frankfurt: not going to happen.
Would you rather the BBC didn't report what's going on?
The Guardian ran an article about it a couple of days ago.
www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/18/frankfurt-tries-to-tempt-the-bankers-fleeing-a-post-brexit-britain
Frankfurt even set up a website on the day of the referendum to try and attract people
welcometofrm.com/
Berlin is also hoping to attract software designers.
That's reality.
If the UK does go into recession, it won't need the BBC to help it.
I only wish I were younger. I'd be out of the UK like a shot, leaving the Leavers to cry into their Prosecco and wondering why they can't employ carers. There really is something quite unpleasant about them.
The guardian.the bbc.both intent on talking down any chance of a successful departure from the EU on theBay whole.what a surprise?
daphnedill what a drama queen you are its not been a month yet, calm down for goodness sake.
Lord knows what my phone is doing tonight.sorry for typos!
Some people have difficulties understanding that the Referendum was non-binding and advisory only.

I am a 'remainer' but that really is an astonishing remark to make about the majority of the population of the UK, some of them my friends and neighbours who are well-educated, thoughtful, have held top professional jobs, are not racist but seeing a bigger picture than the limits of the EU.
Even if I do not agree with them, I hear their sensible and reasoned arguments and none of them are unpleasant.
Truly one of the most offensive posts I have read on here.

Quite.
However, apparently it is the end of the world as we know it.
Would a Remain vote have been non-binding as well? Just wondering if the non-binding bit applies to ALL referendum votes.

Oh I do wish I had met some of them- I'm sure there were some among the Leave side- sadly I heard very few, and perhaps none- who put forward a balanced and convincing argument. The ones I've heard were raving against immigrants, French farmers, WW2 and how we beat the Germans, bl**dy Muslim terrorists (Muslamic even) and those who believed the massive lies fed to them by the Murdoch Press, BoJo and Farage re 350 mio going to NHS, etc.'
of course thatbags- Farage actually made it clear how a 48/52 result would not have been accepted by the Leave side.
Under British constitution, referendum votes are non binding and advisory, unless otherwise legislated upon. Those who voted for Brexit may be disappointed that the promises don't materialise overnight, or ever. Still they can enjoy celebrating with their English sparkling wine ( non of that foreign stuff surely? )
Wow daphne.I have made a couple of tongue in cheek comments as light relief amongst my posts. Is that what you mean by unpleasant?
Thank you.thank you.JamIla. Friends and neighbours likewise who voted Remain and were disappointed have accorded the same respect to those of us that voted Leave. And believe me I kept a very low profile .Not because in any way I regretted my vote but didn't want the Referendum to be our only topic of conversation,or try to impose my views. That's why I've read these posts for weeks without posting until today. Think I finally got fed up with feeling I should be some sort of apologist, or feel that any thing negative to happen in our country's future is going to be blamed on Leave voters.Because that's what it feels like, and that's unpleasant but I've a thick skin and can take it. I will be staying put and hopefully in a few years time the lights will still be on,I pads and phones will still charge up and we will all still be exchanging views. And agreeing to disagree with grace.Night all!
What I find offensive is the way that, when people talk about the financial effect brexit has had on them very few people seem bothered. Had I voted one way or the other and then found that my vote had caused hardship to people I'd be distraught now. Listening to the man who masterminded the leave campaign on The Daily Politics today gloating over his success, especially as there was no planned exit strategy if leave won, sickened me. As he pointed out, it was for the government to pick up the pieces, not the leave campaigners. As for the BBC being biased, I found them biased in favour of the leave campaign during the interviews and debates.
I didn't hear any of that; they sound like an unpleasant, bigoted bunch of people granjura, that must have been very upsetting .
I was thinking of the Irish vote which kept being presented until the people gave the 'correct' answer!
I'm not sure thatbags
But actually I think it is binding because no level was set.
I just dislike the way that people who disagree with some posters politically, re the referendum etc, are labelled as unpleasant, racist, bigoted, stupid etc
I may disagree with someone but they are entitled to their views and do not warrant being called names.
Apart from those people who spoke to granjura (?)
