This seems just a tad more important than train gate. www.theweek.co.uk/63635/human-rights-act-will-be-scrapped-government-confirms

We are going to have a
Briitsh Bill of Rights
As will no longer part of the EU

Still more important than traingate though and should have been reported more widely. Hope this government is prepared to protect the rights of all and not just the rich and powerful-oh, there goes another flying pig!

1 thing does not 1 other thing more or less important.

The importances of such disparate happenings are not the same. The happenings themselves are so disparate as to not be comparable. So don't compare them.

Besides which, the government's plans on the EU Human Rights Act has been in the news for ages. I don't think it is justified to complain that it has not been reported and discussed in the media. It has. And it will be again.

The Humans Rights has nothing to do with the EU. Brexit has no effect.

Very true, whitewave, it is nothing to do with the EU but it has that nasty word 'European' attached to it...sad

Maybe one shouldn't compare them thatbags but perhaps one should take a closer look at why stuff about Jeremy Corbyn is heavily featured in the news whilst legislation about human rights lies quietly forgotten in a corner. When is a good time to release unacceptable policies and actions? When something else is hogging the limelight!

JC is choosing to make the news himself!

I think you can have too much paranoia/ conspiracy theories about some things that happen.Especially if they don't suit your own personal political viewpoint.

Populist stories are always going to be more widely read and talked about than serious stuff.

I put this on the new cabinet thread on 23rd August.

webmail.amnesty.org.uk/_act/link.php?mId=J9187223391817136158428806363218&tId=219381209&subjId=90081

You're right, dramatictessa, it gets ignored.
Human rights aren't important to most people. It doesn't affect them now.

More about it. About who is affected by it, and who will be affected in the future if it disappears.
