8th sign of ageing....

I've small dark patches over my upper lip. If I didn't put concealer on them, I'd look like Hitler's twin sister. Also a wobbly, spongey thing just below my collarbone [wee man finds it awfully interesting!] and my nose has a tendency to drip [sometimes without me being aware...]

Isn't it disconcerting how little ones notice such things? Any blemish or freckle, however tiny, they will point at and ask about...

I'm fed up with the white hairs in my eyebrows. If I pluck them they leave a gap, but they are more bristly than the other hairs and look out of place. I don't want bushy eyebrows like my father had!

Oh yes, I get those too, anno! And they just refuse to be covered up by eyebrow gel or the like...

You guys have still got eyebrows ....mine disappeared years ago ...

That's easily remedied Anno & Ana get your beautician to sort them out. It's my one 'me' treat (apart from my hairdresser). Any good saloon with wax or pluck, tint and even cut off the excess growth! Takes years if you and last for 6-8 weeks.

You're so right nag. 4 year old DGS was stroking the veins and wrinkles on the back of my hand yesterday and asked why my hands were so bumpy

Threading is great! I have my eyebrows threaded (tidied up) every 6 weeks or so and dyed a dark brown (my original hair colour although grey now) and what a difference it makes to my whole face, frames and opens eyes and all that. As for spit with threading, I've never thought about that, I just view it as a remarkable skill handed down through generations. It is a little bit sore, but no more so than tweezing or waxing and it lasts. I love it when my eyebrows are 'done', love the woman who does mine she is so gentle and gorgeous herself. I like having strong eyebrows As for the chin thing, it's either tweezers in good light or DIY facial wax strips which are quite fun.

notso & ana yes it's true they do, but it's just curiosity isn't it, there's never anything judgemental about them. Makes me able to accept my wrinkles etc more easily. [ bless them emoticon]

Yes, that's also true, Nanad. Now my GDs are six they don't do it so much - they just accept me as I am, and I suppose they've got used to the fact that people are all different!

Grannyknot! I read in a women's mag (where I got most of my education) that waxing chin hairs has been proved to make them multiply!

Stick to tweezers!

I recently tried removing bikini line hair with waxed strips from the chemist. They were very good at removing blood vessels. The hair just went into a sort of stiff perm. With rash highlights.

I can feel the little stiff chin hairs and pull them out without a mirror. I had my tweezers taken off me at Manchester airport security - did they really think I could overpower the cabin crew with them? I think they have relaxed that daft rule now. My underarm hair stopped growing several years ago - I told my French doctor and just got the Gallic shrug and one word -'hormones'.. The hairs on my arms are blonde so they don't show.
I have had hands which are much older than my face for many years. My little gc used to be fascinated by the veins. My face is rapidly catching up.

I have age spots everywhere except my face and also get those annoying little skin tags that catch on your underwear.
Isn't growing old wonderful?

Tweezers are always at the ready. I can stiff little white hairs from time to time but I have a perverted pleasure in yanking out the odd black one. Lovely!

I'm finding this a strange thread. Surely I'm not alone in not sprouting random hairs on my face?
I will admit to hairy knees It doesn't grow on the rest of my legs any more, just the knees, and I find an epilator the best means of attack!

Would rather have hairy knees than hairy chin*nanna*; my knees don't often see the light of day but unless I take to the burka my chin is always on display.

My hairdresser does the facial waxing: upper lip, occasional chin hair and middle eyebrow!! I'm dark haired, sort of Mediterranean genetic heritage, so that makes it worse. However, having a short hair style I go to the hairdresser often enough to keep up to the waxing.

I remember as a young lass I bought some stuff called coolwax for my legs. It was great - I spread on the wax, covered it with a wide bandage supplied with the kit, and waited 10 minutes before ripping it off. I did the job in front of the fire as the bathroom was too cold. My brother was there and he was fascinated with the strip of leg hairs with their little roots waving in the air!! So was I. The stuff cost too much though, so I went back to pinching my Dad's razor and shaving my legs.

I perfected the innocent look, when the cry of "Oi, who's been using my razor?" emanated from the bathroom.
