8th sign of ageing....

Hi soop. I still read the forums every few days. I've been busy helping with the ukulele club and helping another offshoot club get started, trying to get out and walk a bit more (short of breath and the odd little angina twinge - seeing the cardiologist again next month), and looking after the grand-daughter. I'm 55 tomorrow but lately I feel 75 and I'm not impressed with myself!

Oooh, Nelliemoser, how true. Mine is up to 16 items, though I don't need all of them all of the time! I feel embarrassed when I pick up a big bag of medications from the chemist's.

My eigth sign of aging is the increasing lenght of my repeat prescription form!

Are chin hairs hereditary (not sure that is spelled correctly but you know what I mean). I have one particular hair which is in exactly the same place on my chin as my Mother has one on hers, and when I saw my niece over Christmas and New Year, she told me she also has a chin hair in the same place!

But a pretty wee lady - I can vouch for that, soop! And I saw no signs of slobbering when we met in Glasgow!

I think that I've discovered the 7th sign of ageing. Comparing an old photo of me as a babe, [lying naked and flat on my chubby tummy] with how I look now, seventy one years later, I'd say there was very little difference. I'm as dumpy, dozey, dimpled and slobbery as I was then.

Somewhat off topic, but I remember an episode of The Vicar of Dibley where they were trying to work out what the 7 signs of ageing were. They got 6 worked out but got stuck, then they decided the 7th sign of ageing must be death!

But knowing him he would chose something from my collection rather than go and buy a new one so that would be fine.

No, your hair doesnt grow after you die but as, immediately after death, the skin shrinks and dries out it reveals more of the hair still in the follicle.

Bez that worries me too. Also is it true that your hair continues to grow for 48 hours when you die? And does this include facial hair?

I have told DGD that if I am in a home or a long time in hospitals she has to always have tweezers in her bag when she visits and she must remove any offending hairs! DD thas had a bit of a problem on her chin since starting the menopause and she has had a couple of sessions of laser treatment which seem successful so far.

Yes, I don't relish the thought of being a moustachioed and bearded old lady in my twilight years....

Tweezers up till now but I have an appointment on Monday for a skin test for IPL which is supposed to be 95% successful. Only thing is I got tanned at the cricket last week and it doesn't work on tanned skin. I'll have to get it delayed.

I had taken up a special offer at our local spa for 6 treatments for £125 which is half price. My son's girlfriend suggested I should get them permanently removed as my eysight and coordination may go when I am older and she is probably right.

That sort of occasion is usually when I notice a very long hair protruding from DH's nose - and he won't let me tweezer it, he'll just give a big sniff, as though that's going to suck it up out of sight!

I did consider electrolysis for my upper lip, but apparently it only works on dark hair and mine's fair!

I had this conversation with my friend yesterday. She goes regularly for electrolysis at her local salon and it only costs her about £20 every few months. I am at risk of becoming a Jimmy Edwards look-alike if I don't do something soon. I use wax strips for my upper lip and chin, but the hairs still come back thick and fast - and they're dark! And my hair's white [confused.] Tweezers just don't get all the upper lip ones, either.

No, it gradually weakens it before it is destroyed, but as fast as one crop of hairs are destroyed others thicken and darken themselves. Initially my problem was hair round my mouth as these have been cleared hair elsewhere on my face has become a problem. Now it is hair on my cheeks, neck and, oh horror, ears.

regular electrolysis? I thought it removed hair permanently * flick* .

How dainty you all are! Without regular electrolysis I would have a beard to rival DH - and his is magnificent.
