hey Nonu,was up early and barely awake to see the church service for M.T. They didn't show anything else,except putting her in the hearse. Ive been all over TN. The mountains often throughout my life. You must visit during the fall to see the leaves.Been to KY.,Ala. Florida,Mississippi,Ga.Ark.Con.Maryland,Calif. Washington D.C. Plus Arlington Va.,N.C.,S.C., And N.Y.C. Never out west. maybe someday but for the last three years my back problems limit my sitting without pain. So my big dream of going back to visit your country is just that.

Envious hopefully GN this give you a flavour of this little bees nest, the UK - I'm sorry your physical limitations have impacted on your plans. I've travelled quite a bit in the USA - when people here talk about 'Americans' I just wonder who they have in mind. The differences thoughtout the country are enormous and I think it is as divided ideologically as ours. I've always found Americans to be curious, friendly and always courteous. Some I've met have put my knowledge of British history to shame. I took a tiny plane in Nevada some years ago - the pilot spent his holidays walking Roman roads in England and expected to discuss them with me

Envious , been to all those places so hard to say which is best , although i was very humbled by Arlington, you are lucky you don"t have to fly 3,000 miles to see these sights .

Nonu,I guess I'm the oposite of you than. Just saw this on Facebook.Sort of cute. Honey,I'm fixn' to tell you something' about being Southern.Being Southern doesn't mean I'm not educated.I may say y'all and call you sweetie or honey and I might " bless your heart and I might even piddle around. I 'll greet you with a "hey" and a hug. I might refer my grocery cart as a "buggy". I'm polite and say "Ma'am and Sir and of you hear a Southerner say" Oh HELL NO!" You'd better run! If you don't know where yonder is than you are from the South. Just for the record I don't say ain't. I was always told ain't isn't a word,but you still hear it being said. Maybe it's like having a Yorkshire accent!

I loved your post , I am at the moment reading a book about Savannah ,Georgia ,called Midnight in the garden of good and evil.

It was made into a film by Clint Eastwood , another place I have visited.

At the risk of offending EA I thought Savannah, Georgia was very unfriendly (I could have used another term but restrained myself) Possibly the least friendly place I have been to in the US. I drove into it having driven through fields where black people were buried. Not cemeteries, just fields.

Yes it's warm!! We always seem to have to short a spring when it comes to temp. It's 83 degrees now going to 84. I'm going to get DH to take a picture of my HUGE asalia? bush in the front yard to show you It's blooms.

savannah might be kind of snotty,never been but my sister lived there for a little while.Very pretty. Don't like their accents! Sound snotty and stuck up. Oh I take no offense to the term Yanks.My father was one during the war!

We went to Savannah and Charleston last year I thought they were really lovely, we were staying in Hilton Head Island, Georgia and would definitely like to go back as we wished we had spent longer in both of these cities, I'd quite like to do a Civil War trail. Nonu, after we came back I rented the film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil as it was all shot in Savannah.

Bananas,Hilton Head is considered posh and a favorable retirement place and tourist area that probably looks at visitors as a positive thing where as in Savannah a nusance.

I've been to Savannah - absolutely loved it! Those beautiful squares and houses.

Many years before I'd read 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' so it was like stepping inside a novel.

It truly is a mysterious and quirky city.

Shoot I should have mentioned, I visited Savannah in the 70s. I'm sure it's changed greatly since then. Haven't we all?

Oh POGS I loved Billy Connelly in the days when he drank, lived here and didn't do travelogues. I remember crying with laughter then he sobered up

We have done during various visits a civil war trail of sorts , as we have visited battle sites at

Gettysburg Penn.

Fredrickburg And Appotomax [where the surrender was signed] , Virginia

Chattanooga , Tenn.
