Hi envious I said i would look through his diaries to find when we were in Momument Valley, it was actually in 2002 and we visited Kayenta. The unpaved roads which take you to the best views have to be driven in a 4x4 or as a back packer. Our rental car was not allowed to be used. You would really love it there , hope you realise your dream.
Chattenooga has been visited twice and amongst the interesting things we saw at the train station was an original "Choo Choo" now used as a restaurant. We also took a Duck Boat ride [which i loved] and a steam train ride. In addition we drove up to the Point Military Park at the top of the mountain and saw the Civil War Museum with the famous 19ft x 30ft painting of the battle by the English artist James Walker [1874].
Then on to the Tennessee Aquarium which I we found fascinating with the escalator going right to the top and then walking all down the slopes to see the different levels of river life . [Have you been]?
Other places in Tennessee I have visited were Knoxville , about 100 miles from Lynchburg [give or take]. We also visited Pigeon Forge [but did not go into Dollywood] and the Great Smokey National Park .
Your National Parks are magnificent .
Hope you haven"t fallen asleep . Do you manage to travel round that big old country of yours much ?
Fibre broadband and house phones
