Hello Babs. Welcome from Northumberland. I've never been to Plymouth, or Devon for that matter. In September DH and I intend visiting relatives in Dartmouth, It will be the first time for both of us.

Babs1952 Tue 10-Mar-15 22:19:46

Hi everyone nice to meet you all! Plymouth is my adopted City as I've lived here for over 40 years. Henetha I will definitely say Hi to the Hoe for you and hilda I hope you like Dartmouth as much as I do!
Rain here tomorrow.

Hi Babs I'm in Kent but am coming your way next month. We're staying on Burgh Island.

loopylou Wed 11-Mar-15 15:16:24

I love Dartmouth envy

hildajenniJ Wed 11-Mar-15 16:01:13

I'm really looking forward to visiting Dartmouth in September. We haven't seen my DH's cousin since the last big family wedding, which was a good few years ago now. While we are "down south", we are also going to RHS Wisley as my DH is a keen gardener.

There`s posh, Ninathenana, staying on Burgh Island! We stayed in Bigbury-on-Sea many years ago, walked across to the island at low tide, it`s a lovely area of the country.

Posh indeed, out of pure nosiness I just checked out the Burgh Island Hotel.Definitely second mortgage land and Blacktie dinner every evening £70 pp and not a drop of alcohol included. Please can I come,I will be on my best behaviour.

rosequartz Wed 11-Mar-15 18:23:35

We're staying on Burgh Island. Lucky you nina envy

Dartmouth has got some scary thieving seagulls!

ninathenana Thu 12-Mar-15 00:19:55

It's our ruby wedding present to each other. Only two nights.
We'll never do it again grin

annsixty Thu 12-Mar-15 08:33:52

In that case nina I won't intrude but I hope you have a wonderful time.

Ariadne Thu 12-Mar-15 09:14:26

Hello, Babs and welcome - I'm in Bideford. Were you here a year or so ago? Just curious because I was organising a meetup in Exeter then and there was someone with a name similar to yours, with whom we tried to make contact. Probably got it wrong! smile

ninathenana Thu 12-Mar-15 09:59:01

smile smile annsixty

BTW the room price includes dinner. £70 dinner is for non residents. So not quiet as jaw dropping as it seems.

annsixty Thu 12-Mar-15 10:27:25

Almost a bargain then, but I do envy you.You will so enjoy and remember your anniversary.

AshTree Sat 28-Mar-15 22:02:28

Hi Babs - I'm from Plymouth too and, like you, it is my adopted city as I've lived here for 38 years! Where were you before? We came here from East Essex, near Maldon.

I was born in Plymouth in a nursing home on Mutley Plain -- before the NHSshock showing my age!

rosequartz Sun 29-Mar-15 13:34:39

I lived in Mutley for a while and used to work on Mutley Plain

whitewave Sun 29-Mar-15 13:36:56

When I was a child I used to be taken to Mutley by an Aunt to visit a super toy shop where called Wheelers I think. I remember she bought me a desk and blackboard and easel.

AshTree Sun 29-Mar-15 14:21:09

If you haven't been back to Mutley since childhood, you would hardly know it now. It is studentsville these days, along with so many other areas of Plymouth that are in easy reach of the university.

I know, my son was at Plymouth doing environmental sciences. He seemed to spend most of his time on the moors cycling.
