Army horses loose on London streets
Angela Rayner lashes out and calls Sunak “pint sized loser”.
There is much drum-rolling, trumpeting, media interest - and of course, cake - as Gransnet Local launches its first tranche of local sites. We've given you a few sneak previews in the past couple of weeks but now the sites are officially launched things can really get going.
Hats off to our amazing editors who have been working all hours getting their sites ready for launch, filling them up with as much local information as possible. Have a look at what's happening in your area - classes, museums, volunteering opportunities, parks, health centres, local services - add your own recommendation, or leave a review. There's even a place to list things to swap or sell.
The sites that are up and running with editors at the helm are: Blackburn, Blackpool, Bolton, Brighton & Hove, Bristol, Chester, Edinburgh, Hexham, Kingston upon Thames, Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Southern Staffordshire, Thurrock and Worthing. But there are other sites that are filling up too thanks to anonymous locals: Lancashire, Warwickshire, Exeter, Kent, Leeds, Liverpool amongst others are all looking busy.
Your local site is the perfect place for you to organise to meet up with other like-minded gransnetters in your area (and that means real cake instead of virtual). There may be a get together already planned but if not, why not suggest one yourself? Go to Meet-Ups in the Local Forums and start a thread.
If your site looks quiet it's more than likely we're still looking for a suitable someone to take on the role of local editor. If you're passionate about your community and interested in being a local editor then email us at [email protected] telling us a bit about yourself and why you think it would be right for you. There's even a bit of money to be made.
So, please raise a glass (or a brew) to Gransnet Local - a wonderful new extension to the main Gransnet site.
