How to join Gransnet

Joining Gransnet is free. Once signed up, you can benefit from member discounts, contribute recipes and, of course, dive into our Forums and discuss anything from last night’s telly to next month’s trip to Timbuktu.

To join Gransnet, please fill in your details below. Fields marked with * are required.

Sorry it’s a bit of a palaver, but we need these basic details so you can post on Gransnet Forums, benefit from Gransnet member discounts - and lots of other good things besides.

The Basics

You'll need to respond to an email from us to confirm your registration, so please give us a valid email address, which you have access to. Gransnet will not pass your email to anyone else without your express permission.

Your Forum username will appear as the author of any messages you post on the forums. If the name you want is already taken, try using a MashedUpPhrase instead of a single regular word. Long usernames will get truncated on some pages so try to keep yours under 18 characters.

Gransnet members can send each other private messages via the Forums. We at Gransnet forward these messages, and any person sending you a message does not see your email address, only your Forum username. If you'd rather not receive these messages, you can specify this after registering.

Where You Are

Are you interested in receiving more information about joining a panel of gransnetters to give occasional feedback on products and services?

If you don't want to receive our weekly newsletter full of news, views, amusing insights and excellent offers, you can uncheck this box - but, frankly, you'd be mad to.
Same goes for our local newsletter. Keep this box ticked to receive details of news, offers, competitions and events in your local community.
A Little More About You

It helps us to keep the site free to use if you give us some basic demographic information. This helps us to sell advertising. We absolutely, categorically do not pass your email address to anyone else. See the privacy policy information below for more information.

Privacy policy

It is Gransnet's policy not to make our mailing list available to any other parties and we would only pass on your email address if we received specific permission to do so from you, or if we are asked for information by the police, in line with the Data Protection Act.

The only mails you will receive from us are your registration confirmation plus, if you sign up for them, our weekly newsletter and our individually-tailored developmental emails charting your grandchild's progress from birth to five years. We may also contact you very occasionally with an important piece of news about the site, or with topical tips based on members’ contributions, but we recognise that you don't want your mailbox clogged up and we promise not to hassle you.
