Are we elderly or middleaged.

At 67 years old with 2 grandchildren I consider myself middleaged. I still work 2 afternoons a week and lead a healthy busy life. I have a lot more energy then people younger then me. My son and his wife say I'm elderly and treat me as if I'm a doddering old fool. I've learned a lot of new skills since I turned 60, travel solo on buses and trains. Yet if I go out with them, they almost instruct me onto how to put one foot in front of another. I almost feel as as if I don't count for much .My daughter however, doesn't treat me like this at all thank goodness and finds their actions really annoying.

Shame on you Anno domina
Where's your spirit of comradeship?grin

Annobel Thu 02-Feb-12 08:52:38

Oh, I like that, jeni. I may have to do a jingl and change my name...grin

Seventimesfive Thu 02-Feb-12 09:31:54

Love it jeni! As long as we wear our long johns (or should it be jennies?) under our white dresses and our Ugg boots we'll be fine! When shall we start?

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 09:34:19

I can't come - I've got Ocado dropping my shopping off! (it's blinkin' freezin' out there!) x

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 09:49:12

Baggy's the leader. She should organise. Do we take inflatables and tardis or just broomsticks?

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 09:56:43

Did someone say tardis???? Hmmm.....I might be available later (where's those handcuffs?)

Butternut Thu 02-Feb-12 10:16:11

I've been a bit of a warrior in my time, so I'll come as Boudicca in my chariot, armed against the hordes, with streaming flags of purple and green

GoldenGran Thu 02-Feb-12 10:16:18

I'll be free from about 4, I have some Ugglie boots and spare thermals for those who don't have any.

My SIL is 74 and she takes care of her mother who is just about to be 101. My MIL is definitely elderly but surely not my SIL. This sort of situation is not so out of the norm these days.

whatisamashedupphrase Thu 02-Feb-12 10:21:58

What have I got to do?!!!

What have I got to say?!!!!

Flustered now!!!!

Where have I got to put the purple butterfly?! They won't see it there!!
Will they???? shock (It's a bit chilly today}

whatisamashedupphrase Thu 02-Feb-12 10:22:42

Tell me again what we're demonstrating about.

bagitha Thu 02-Feb-12 10:28:26

I was just shoved to the front because of my snakes plaits! I don't mind being in front if I can ride in Boudicca's chariot. Who's playing the skirls on the bagpipes?

Seventimesfive Thu 02-Feb-12 11:20:43

Oh dear! I've got to catch the train to Brighton lunchtime and won't be back until tomorrow. I know, I'll send a virtual ME, maybe even a few of them, that'll confuse Cameron! And if you all do the same, led by the bagpipes.... Have fun and keep your skirts tucked into your Uggs!

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 11:43:33

No bagpipes bur I've got 3 recorders! We're protesting against everything that's wrong with society whether we beleive in it or notgrin
Just organise any protest and everyone will join in. Perhaps even the bankers.
I am sure that several virtual 7x7 would confuse anyone let Cameron.
Folks, just keep baggy away from the champagne reception in Hyde park after. You know she can't handle it.
Anno, you will notice I put Anno dominA not dominI
That is lady Anno.

bagitha Thu 02-Feb-12 12:06:36

I'll have you know I'm very good at handling champagne!! The cheek!! Expert champagne bottle opener, me, and drinker. Mind you, it gets all confused once I've drunk it.

jeni, you can play your recorders so long as it won't frighten the horses. Just tie an old cloth bagpuss onto them somehow, and no-one will know the difference.

Butternut Thu 02-Feb-12 12:20:10

My chariot will have to be on auto-pilot this afternoon, unless anyone can take over the reins - the horses are very well trained! Just make sure there is at least a crate of champagne left for when I get back - I'll need it after this afternoon is over and done with.
Fly the flag and onwards.......

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 13:04:48

Just how many chariots are we expecting? Also how many horses?
Just so that I can organise stabling and forage.just a thought, how many men shovels and buckets for after?

supernana Thu 02-Feb-12 13:12:11

baggy and butter Is there room for me in one of the chariots? I adore champagne. Have a few bottles waiting for a party with friends this weekend. Maybe I could hide a couple of bottles under my cape and edge past hubs with a wicked grin on my face. What time will you call for me? Do I need to wear my thermals? I have a wee plastic saltire [well, Rory does - on his apartment] I could stick that into my deerstalker hat and look real cooel. By the way, my rallying cry will be... 'Where was I going? Why am I here? What do I want?' wink

bagitha Thu 02-Feb-12 13:12:24

Leave the manure for the gardeners and allotment keepers. The sensible ones will be following us with their buckets and shovels.

bagitha Thu 02-Feb-12 13:13:29

Plenty of room on butty's chariot. It's a virtual one and works just like the tardis.

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 13:29:19

I have to go off to help with babies at 4.30 pm, but will help with placards meanwhile.

'What do we Want? More .....errrr..'
When do we Want it? erm...could you drop it off at a time to suit you, please?'

....think that needs working on....!

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 13:49:17

Back to work. See you with the fireworks when I get home!

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 14:16:43

'What do we Want? Grey Power!'....no, that's not quite right either....couldn't do without the highlights! More work needed.....

Ariadne Thu 02-Feb-12 14:32:10

Are we going to chain ourselves to any railings? Bit cold for that, maybe. Will belt up M2 on my Hogwarts broomstick, can I pick anyone up on the way?

JessM Thu 02-Feb-12 14:38:39

Kind of begs the question - one that i wonder about, which is why there is no national feminist organisation in this country, lobbying for issues that concern women. Who, in the 1970s, would have thought it?
