I actually thought it was serious for a moment! I actually did take part in a protest in November of older people - in the drizzle - and waved my banner and was seen on TV to prove it! There was ONE policeman overseeing about 150 of us

We're marching because we can! Those politicians in their ivory towers need to realise that we are powerful and a force to be reckoned with. They have piddled around with their wishy-washy policies and flavour of the month ideas, whilst the country is losing a grip! We Gransnetters, and the rest of the senior population, have the majority of votes to dole out now, so they had better start courting US!

What do we want? Grandpower! When do we want it? Well, actually, we already have it, if we only knew! Let's use it to our advantage. March!!!!!

JessM, I don't think that the fact that few of us have confirmed that we have sent a copy of Carol's letter to our MPs means that few of us have actually done it. However, I also have a suspicion that because 'cut out of our lives' doesn't apply to most of us, some grans don't think it is their business. But it is our business. We support each other, don't we?

Likewise, jess. I did put a wink (way back with the elderliness reference)! Just for the record, my Oxfordshire MP (Evan Harris) tried to get me to join his party because he got so many letters from me, and the current administration of the local council where I now am, our MP, and our MSP are very familiar with my name. I am currently involved with one of the groups working with the Scottish Commission on Rural Schools. Sorry for the knee jerk reaction, but perhaps that explains (if not excuses) it. Cheers .

Maybe we should have a special section for "Action" - real rather than the broomstick type, and it might be easier for us to see what is going on. I certainly didn't look at that thread for a fair while because I hadn't realised it had changed to one asking for the rest of us to be involved. I missed out on all the great poetry because I don't 'do' poetry but, unless I am taking it easy after a traumatic experience, I don't have time to read everything. If you don't know about my terrible trauma you are looking at the wrong threads.

Looks like our march may need to be divided into various sections to reflect the different issues we are bringing to 'CallMeDave's' attention in Whitney (is that where we're heading?)

Just checked the Witney Tories web site and there doesn't seem to be much going on there this weekend! Might as well invade Downing Street - at least give the Met something to think about, especially if anyone turns up with a broomstick.
