Are we elderly or middleaged.

At 67 years old with 2 grandchildren I consider myself middleaged. I still work 2 afternoons a week and lead a healthy busy life. I have a lot more energy then people younger then me. My son and his wife say I'm elderly and treat me as if I'm a doddering old fool. I've learned a lot of new skills since I turned 60, travel solo on buses and trains. Yet if I go out with them, they almost instruct me onto how to put one foot in front of another. I almost feel as as if I don't count for much .My daughter however, doesn't treat me like this at all thank goodness and finds their actions really annoying.

I'm just getting myself sorted out and will await the tardis in the next hour or so. Has it got far to travel this time?

Right!
Shout, shout, up with your song
Cry with the wind for the dawn is breaking.
March, march, sing ye along
Wide blows our banner
And hope is breaking,

I presume we all know the rest. Our grandmothers must have been awesome!

I'm not in charge, jeni is! It was her idea! (wasn't it?)

PS for jess, the "some of don't flaunt" comment was not directed at any individuals. Just in case that was what got to you. My way of saying I'll do my own thing and I don't have to tell anyone. In fact, on the whole, I'd rather not.

Back later. Cooking dinner. Have sweet potato and olives in mind. Will it work?".....

Butternut Fri 03-Feb-12 18:24:31

[Hmm] - that combo is a bit of a stretch for me, bagitha.

I know we are having virtual fun here, but can we spare a moment to think of the long dead ladies who made it all possible? Not just the suffragettes but people like Marie Stopes, Elizabeth Blackwell and other female pioneers!

Ok Boudicca over to you. Get that chariot ready.
Baggy, you're supposed to be in the chariot with your spear and streamers, not chatting up that dishy PC!

Butternut Fri 03-Feb-12 18:32:59

My chariot is still in the barn, with the (6) winged horses.... Waiting for it to become frosted in beautiful snowflakes then I will take up the banner and cry with the wind, march and shout with hope, head held high, the warriors' anthem! .

Butternut Fri 03-Feb-12 18:35:36

Almost ready....

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 18:57:15

Ok. Every body in line?
Boudicca, keep that chariot stationary until we start! The scythes on the wheels are making the police a little nervous!
Jingle! Put that young PC down. You don't know where he's been. I hope I don't have to tell you again!
Ok,on the count of three,
One two three
March, march etc!

Crumbs! I'm stood here looking in the sky for the tardis! Get ready to give me a hand up if I take a running jump on, will you? Don't leave the dog hanging by her lead. Here I commmmmmeeee......oops!

Butternut Fri 03-Feb-12 19:08:07

Boudicca away! The horses are flying, nostrils flaring and snorting - Carol - if there's no tardis, hop on board - plenty of room........

Are you dressed proper - purple, green and white.........away

Annobel Fri 03-Feb-12 19:12:57

Just de-icing my supersonic broomstick. Have set the satnav for Westminster. Look out! We have lift-off!

Carol Fri 03-Feb-12 19:15:20

Where are we going to land? Will be be able to put down in Downing Street, or will we get shifted straight away if we do that? What about creating a distraction so the police don't see us arriving by number 10's doorstep?

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 19:15:31

Ladies! Well come. Please sign this sheet as you arrive so we know whose here and can notify NOK if there are any fatalities. I think boudicca's chariot and the flesh eating horses are the biggest risks!
Ok
Onward and----.? I've forgotten
Where am I?
What am I doing here?
This is Downing street isn't it?
Have I been elected PM?

Jacey Fri 03-Feb-12 19:19:01

Hurry up bagitha ...I've got that wretched cat of your's that hitched a ride home with me last time I used my broomstick...I really want to give him back!!

Butternut Fri 03-Feb-12 19:19:29

My horses transform into police horses - so although they look as if they are batton charging on horseback, they are really protecting us...........

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 19:24:42

Good. I vote we spend half an hour here delivering our petitions and then go to our party meeting in Hyde park!
Oh dear, is that policeman strong enough to take 2 metric tonnes of petition inside?

bagitha Fri 03-Feb-12 19:55:29

Oh golly, I thought you guys had really blown it and taken the internet down. My connection to GN went down!

bagitha Fri 03-Feb-12 19:56:33

The wretched cat is called Ezra. Why? He told me that was his name.

bagitha Fri 03-Feb-12 20:00:11

The olives in with mashed sweet potato DID work. It was really nice! No, really! They were garlic-stuffed green olives, but I think black herby ones would be good too. Try it!

Annobel Fri 03-Feb-12 20:03:03

Brrrrrrr! Was that a snowflake I saw landing on your nose, jeni?

Carol Fri 03-Feb-12 20:06:28

Can we get someone to come out and take delivery of our petitions? I wonder what they'll do with them when they shut the front door?

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 20:06:52

No! It was that dratted cat how are we all?
Have we enough champers?

Carol Fri 03-Feb-12 20:10:02

Let's do a photo call before we leave Downing Street - we want to get as much publicity as possible whilst we're here!
