Right, four people in four houses have spotted rats in their gardens. The rat man called next door who was complaining most - she said he had earmarked 'loads' of rat holes FROM our garden through to Her garden. She wouldn't let him put poison down because of her dogs. I rang him. He came today. We have a dog of course BUT he very carefully put poison down in places he couldn't get at and then said - who would be paying the bill? Only £15 ... in a past life I would have paid it, end of story ... but I emailed the neighbours saying who would volunteer paying towards the bill.

Straight back from one - the other has yet to reply at all - came - Are you sure, there didn't used to be a charge but of course she would pay her fair contribution.
PS: part of my reply - and yes, I do know I am crossing far too many people off the good list - was that I was pretty sure I had handed over £15 in cash ....
PPS: is it me or are people just rotten
PPPS: maybe not answer that

Makes me laugh when neighbours start distinguishing one rat from another and deciding whose garden it lives in! Just send 'em an email saying 'I've paid £15, so could each of you pop £3.75 though my letter box, then we're all square?' If one has already contributed, even better - thank them for their prompt payment on the email!

I soooo want to put rat signposts directing them all one way! Youngest tells me just to chuck bits of tasty cheese over fences but that's the youth of today for you.

Hi Carol - aha I did that and from one I got 'yes she will pay a contribution but she is very busy so I shall have to remind her' and the other wants to see the receipt!

I plan to go out at the dead of night scattering chunks of cheese .......

Funny how some people need reminding to pay money but their memories are ok when they're calling it in!

Yes, Nanban a few chunks of cheese surreptitiously scattered in the right places will soon remind them that rats don't have specific addresses. Good luck! grin

Is it just me who gets completely Angry when someone bangs on about being too busy, got a lot on etc! Isn't that simply saying I'm important and in demand and I know you don't have a life, so you do it. It must be the zone I'm in .... perhaps I'll go live on a boat

I like that saying 'if you want something doing, ask a busy woman.' Shows who is busy really, doesn't it Nanban?

Carol - I think you and I must be soulmates. Actually, I've calmed down considerable - not enough of course. When do we arrive at the place when what goes through the brain should freely be allowed out of the mouth - other people do it all the time, and I spend life absorbing, smiling, placating, trying to help and silently being a complete bitch!

I'm not sure we ever do Nanban. All I have learned over the years is to try to keep a lid on it, instead of opening mouth before engaging brain. If some people only knew what I was thinking, rather than saying diplomatically....!!

I've got myself in a lot of trouble by speaking before thinking, so now I keep quiet most of the time. But when I let rip, everyone knows about it! grin
It feels good then!!!

That sounds like me chrissy they all know the signs when I am about to blow grin
