My DD has just rung me to say she'd read on FB that her cousin's wife had had her 2nd baby. Great, good news but...............

I spoke to my brother at 11 am this morning and he clearly didn't know he had a new DGG sad angry brother and wife have been divorced for about 20yrs but he's still the grandad, and nephew knows where to go when he wants something !

She was born at 9.15am. Why hadn't they rung him.

ninathenana We've had discussions on this subject before and pretty much came to the conclusion that Facebook is such a way of life for that generation, it simply doesn't occur to them that not contacting their own parents directly can seem hugely hurtful and thoughtless.

yes absent I remember reading those threads now.
Was just so angry on his behalf, I put finger to keyboard before engaging brain grin (steps down from soapbox)

Proud to say DD made sure extended family knew first.
