A cosy retreat that ISN'T about Christmas?

Greatnan Thu 06-Dec-12 12:40:52

He was a big disappointment on the Royal Variety Performance - he should have retired before his voice lost its timbre. However, I have three tapes of all his best numbers. I also have CDs of Andy Williams, Matt Monroe and Roy Orbison. I alternate them with some classical compilations on my long drives.

Neil Sedaka?

Ana Thu 06-Dec-12 13:10:06

Yes! Now he has kept his voice, apart from having to tone down the very high notes!

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 13:25:54

Buddy Holly, swoon!

Ana Thu 06-Dec-12 13:38:36

He hasn't kept his voice so well....hmm

Granny23 Thu 06-Dec-12 13:39:35

Jeni We (Me, Sister, Best Friend) are off to a Buddy Holly Tribute Night on the 17th for our Christmas Night Out. Hope that it will not be disappointing because we are so looking forward to singing along to all the well remembered songs.

How do you know? He might be in the heavenly choirsmile

Ana Thu 06-Dec-12 13:41:47

Ah, I had forgotten Neil Sedaka - he wrote a song just for me!
Is it true that 'The Day the Music Died' was about the death of Buddy Holly?
Such a catchy tune....

Took my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry?

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 14:31:47

The first Neil Sedaka I knew was when I was 17 and walking in the Lake District with my friends Judi Judy and Jenny! It was 'We've got to say goodbye for the summer' very poignant.

Ana Thu 06-Dec-12 15:00:32

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 15:26:24

I've just been watching Time Team in the TV room here, feeling very full after a sumptous meal.

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 22:03:59
