Well of course the answer is no. We've come back today after our second short break in just over a week.

Easter weekend we went camping in the middle of nowhere in Lincolnshire. Was idyllic. Peace, quiet and solitude. Anxiety levels plummeted. I love the middle of nowhere.

Second break was four days in Northumbria with the children. B and B in the middle of nowhere...spot the theme lol. But this time lots of sightseeing so much more stressful for me.

We had to come home today even though we all wanted to stay and see more. Northumbria is beautiful.

Move to the middle of nowhere?!

durhamjen Sun 12-Apr-15 19:23:02

Move to Northumberland.

Mishap Sun 12-Apr-15 19:27:42

Seriously - I only feel human if I am surrounded by green - people are all different, and this is my element.

Northumberland is idyllic the most stress free place I have ever been to,we where going to buy a new house there in the early 90s in Acombe just out side of Hexham but schooling for the children stopped us,it was the worst mistake I think we have ever made.

I would move to the middle of nowhere if I could Mishap.

It only takes a couple of days for me to long to come back home if we stay anywhere that's busy. The novelty of being surrounded by hustle and bustle soon wears off.

My father came from Northumberland and went back to retire. It is a beautiful county, but very cold in the winter!

I watch Vera to get my fix of the scenery! x

I wish you could vq - but maybe you can take every opportunity this summer to get off in the caravan and recharge your batteries.

After a few days in the middle of nowhere I long to get back to the hustle and bustle. Takes all sorts....

I live in the middle of nowhere. Blissful.
It is becoming more silent than ever as the houses that are sold are becoming second homes. It is becoming too quiet.

soontobe Sun 12-Apr-15 21:34:30

And expensive to move to I should have added.

durhamjen Sun 12-Apr-15 21:37:13

Where do you live, soon?

soontobe Sun 12-Apr-15 21:39:17

The UK.

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 21:40:22

Narrows it down a bit hmm

mcem Sun 12-Apr-15 21:50:24

And focuses attention?

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 21:54:00

wink

durhamjen Sun 12-Apr-15 22:04:27

Expensive to move to? Not my part of the UK.

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 22:05:53

<whisper>I reckon Norfolk, and North Norfolk at that . wink

mcem Sun 12-Apr-15 22:19:48

(Behind the hand) Beware, S. You're buying into the attention -seeking ploy!

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 22:23:26

When I was in teaching registers were sometimes annotated NFN.

durhamjen Sun 12-Apr-15 22:23:59

Is North Norfolk more expensive than Durham? It wasn't when I lived there.
Of course it all depends where you move from.
Vampire, Norfolk is too flat for you. Too many laarge fields, and you can see traffic for miles. Central Northumberland is what you want.

durhamjen Sun 12-Apr-15 22:26:13

Wait until you retire, vampire. Holidays can go on for ever, if you can afford them.

Ana Sun 12-Apr-15 22:30:31

confused

I never want to come home from holidays, one of my daughters, on the other had, refuses to go away for more than a week, says she gets homesick.......I don`t!! I agree regarding Northumberland, before I ever went there I imagined it as a dirty, dark, industrial area, I was SO wrong.
