That us GN's have missed out again!

Well, they are doing another 'Celebrities type tv programme' where they go off to Italy. Now, I dont begrudge the current mob doing the Celebrities in Camper Vans, but, I am annoyed us lot have missed out again on a trip to Italy. Why were we not asked to go, we would be an interesting bunch and oh so entertaining. I get fed up when some of the 'Stars' say, ooooo, I've always wanted to go there, didn't they ever make enough money to pay for a trip themselves? I do suppose, once we GN's have done our first trip, we will be the 'Celeb's', so I had better watch what I say. (I wouldn't even mind a spell in the 'Big Brother GN House').

It's a bit off track but has anyone watched the programme "Coach Trip" lately? When it first started it had a variety of people of all ages including some oldies. Looked at it the other day and it's now all young wannabes probably trying to get into television. They are a boring bunch!
My qualifications for this
I'm very bolshie
I need to be well supplied with caffeine or I stage a wobbly.(especially at breakfast)
I complain about everything (particularly small amounts of coffee, see above)
I'm easy going -anyone can be in charge. I don't care.
I'm good at finding my way around places.
I can (and do) sleep anywhere.

Can I come as a general dogsbody?

+ I am a whizz with a needle and thread, can sew on missing buttons and do alterations to your ball gowns on the fly. At a pinch I can also stitch up wounds if we get into any dockside bar fights.

+ They have quiz nights on cruises don't they? I'm a good all-rounder in a quiz team, and specialise in the green wedge in Trivial Pursuits.

+ I have lost my sense of smell completely, so I am unaffected by sea-sickness sufferers barfing, and have lots of experience clearing up explosive diarrhea if there is an outbreak of Norovirus.

- I love to sing; I have a voice like a cinder stuck under a door, but that has never stopped me singing. I'll have to stand at the back of the choir.

- I don't suffer fools, gladly or otherwise.

- I am of an age when bum burps are unavoidable, but blasé enough to carry them off without needing to look accusingly at the person nearest me.

Did I say General Dogsbody? Think Admiral Admirable Crichton. grin

Can I join please?
Positives:
I am very polite
I am very good at obeying orders
I have all my own teeth

Negatives:
I swear like a good 'un
I am moody most of the time
I need to eat every 3 hours (or I swear and get very moody!)

I look forward to hearing if I am on the list grin

gillybob Thu 21-Sep-17 22:19:57

I was just thinking similar last night watching Robson Green visiting Anglesey, something about Britain's coasts I think. They really need someone like me who has hardly been anywhere or done anything. My excitement and joy would be infectious and really feel good viewing!

My 10 year old grandson says I'm the only person he knows who gets excited by cloud formations, sunsets and amazingly clear night skies (including waving at the ISS and saying 'hello' as it goes by). Imagine what I would be like seeing the Aurora Borealis!!

silverlining48 Fri 22-Sep-17 07:49:09

I would like to come along because .... i really really need the break...looking for the sympathy vote.
And i can speak English, which should work wherever we are. actually also ok at german, some french and a teeny bit of social Italian, just in case we find that rare person in the world who is unable to speak english!
Spelling is good, i could be social secretary. I am always friendly , mostly!! And passed my first aid ( a long time ago). So could also be group doctor.

DanniRae Fri 22-Sep-17 08:48:02

Is there a list yet? Can we see it? More importantly AM I ON IT???????? confused

gillybob Fri 22-Sep-17 08:55:09

A kindred spirit here Grandma2213 I just love watching the sunset (and sunrise) I live right on the North East coast and watching the sun rise out of the sea is just amazing. My son (a keen photographer) has taken some of the most amazing pictures in the last week.

Okay, thank you for all your applications, I have spent many a long hour mulling over everyones 'credentials'. As I expected we are a fun loving, kind, lovely bunch of people and all bring a good mix of personalities. There are a diverse set of skills amongst us which will prove useful and many of the negatives admitted to are outweighed by the positives. So, I am pleased to say........you are all IN! Now AuntieFlo, if you could just start compiling the sight-seeing itenary (that should keep you off my back, I mean busy). For your info, Flights from your regional airports have been booked, castle view luxury suites booked (fluffy robes, luxury toiletries and slippers provided). Pop and crisps for on the coach sorted. This will be the 5 day taster trip, the followup 1 month jaunt is next on my list to organise, it will be in the sunshine. Auntieflo, if you could just count up the names so far (I can't be bothered, I mean I am busy with arrangements) then I will get on with ordereding the correct number of Goody Bags (just on hold with Prada and conference call booked with Walkers (well you know I like crisps), oh and GILLYBOB, task for you please, could you instruct me how to do words with crossings out in text please). There are additional places available, but not many, so get your applics in. More detail to follow....watch this space........ no this space No this one I am sooooo funny! Lol

gillybob Fri 22-Sep-17 09:34:32

This crossing out thingy is actually top secret Kateykrunch but I can see it being very useful to someone of your standing and lets face it you may have to use it quite a bit in the days leading up to our trip

Therefore I will share . ( basically you put 2 dashes -- either side of whatever you want to cross out. The dashes must touch the first and last letters of whatever you are crossing out as in before and after

I'm so pleased you took my advice made the executive decision to include everyone in the list smile

trisher Fri 22-Sep-17 09:37:17

Please can I have juice, coffee or wine I don't drink pop (Oh b***er is that me off the trip?) I'll bring my own then someone can have my share of pop. cafe

Kateykrunch Fri 22-Sep-17 09:44:56

Here we go!

DanniRae Fri 22-Sep-17 09:50:18

I am so glad that I am on the list - thank you - and I now know how to cross stuff out. What a good start to the day and THE SUN IS SHINING!! Oh Happy Day grin

Aepgirl Fri 22-Sep-17 10:26:37

I'm in! I think the 'celebs' get too many perks, and if it wasn't for the likes of us watching their films/TV shows they wouldn't get the chance either. GNs unite!

Blinko Fri 22-Sep-17 10:51:28

This is a great idea. If I've missed the boat (alright, pun intended!), I can wave you off from the dockside. Is it a cruise, btw? grin

GrumpyOldBat Fri 22-Sep-17 11:26:01

Cruise? Stuck on a ship with people? No.

Alternative offering for the curmudgeonly: Rally across Europe, meeting up occasionally and stopping at interesting accommodation. I will be the Amazon in a Maserati utilising my key skills: Able to curse in several languages, coffee-fuelled so cheap to run, culturally and historically inquisitive, and a raging misanthrope who really wants a dragon-towed chariot with scythes on the wheels and on-board heavy artillery, but will consent to slum it with a Maserati. I would also, for the sake of humanity, hunt down all participants in and watchers of 'reality' television and recreate the Roman gladiatorial arena drifts off into blissful reverie imagining z-list 'celebrities' in the arena with hungry wild animals and gladiators armed to the teeth

gillybob Fri 22-Sep-17 11:29:49

No it's not a cruise Blinko it's a cultural sight seeing trip to Prague and it's not too late to join us !

Blinko Fri 22-Sep-17 11:41:24

Ok, I'm in. I'm good at meeting friends, eating out, chatting and generally being all things - er - cultural. I like ironing, if that's any good....

squirrel5 Fri 22-Sep-17 11:45:36

Oooh can I come too 1) .I have been to Prague before and know exactly where you can get a hot chocolate that's so thick the spoon stands up in the cup.mind you various spirits could be added to give it a powerful kick.2)i can sing too, like Gagagran so will keep you all entertained 3)i am cheeky and can usually get some extras at restaurants etc. Downsides.....i also fart.dribble.and wander off.so search parties have to find me??

allsortsofbags Fri 22-Sep-17 11:55:03

This tread made me laugh out loud, not just lol :-)

As for there being too many? What makes too many?

If you are thinking of only going to one hotel then I can see the problem.

However, if you are thinking "Big" I'm sure Prague could take lots of Gransnetters. That way there could be lots of leaders, lots of followers, lots of folk who can get into bother, raise a smile as so on and plenty of cool, calm folks to get folks out of bother. Me I'd be wondering round in a daze looking for the right coloured umbrella/hat of the leader before I retired to the nearest bar :-)

Sounds like a lot of fun (oh and total chaos :-) plenty for sensible ladies to sort out :-) I'd be up for it but didn't even know there had be a previous (almost) trip so I doubt I'd make the list :-(

Thanks for the laugh though :-)

Bluekitchen192 Fri 22-Sep-17 12:05:05

Oh me please. I'm very easy to live with and will share rooms and talk about sex for the over sixties. I like new places and am interested in drinking wine, eating good food and yoga. I also write blogs.

Smithy Fri 22-Sep-17 12:06:30

Can't wait now let's go before bad weather sets in .
Is dress smart, casual or wear- what- the- hell- you - like? Eager to get packing. Will I need sandals?
