Am I alone in hating , the screeching, yelling , clapping, jumping up & down displays that seems to be the norm for Strickly Come Dancing & the like !

tanith Sat 16-Dec-17 20:41:31

No not alone we've never watched it, doesn't interest me at all.

whitewave Sat 16-Dec-17 20:44:49

I’m bored out of my skull with it but DH is still watching it. Last night wheeeeee!

whitewave Sat 16-Dec-17 20:45:51

At the moment I’m recording the sleigh ride. Now that is a total anecdote to all this tripe.

Bridgeit Sat 16-Dec-17 20:51:18

Thank goodness it's not just me , I was beginning to feel liked an old grouch!!

mcem Sat 16-Dec-17 20:53:42

Dogs? Mangers?

Bridgeit Sat 16-Dec-17 20:57:00

Definitely, but peaceful ?

annodomini Sat 16-Dec-17 21:55:00

mcem grin

paddyann Sun 17-Dec-17 00:14:19

maybe you are an old grouch...isn't it nice to see/hear people enjoying themselves ?

NotAGran55 Sun 17-Dec-17 06:04:17

It's simple - don't turn the programme on if you don't like it then you wouldn't need to listen to people enjoying themselves . We don't all have the same tastes after all .

PS - it is Strictly not Strickly smile

Fennel Sun 17-Dec-17 07:17:01

Try watching with the sound off - I often do that. Many programmes don't need sound.

MawBroon Sun 17-Dec-17 10:01:40

There’s quite a lot of unconscious humour resulting from predictive texting and irony around notagran and I suspect “strickly” is ironic tchsmile

But an “anecdote to all this tripe” ? That has to be down to predictive text (I hope) tchgrin

tchgrin

Do watch “The sleigh ride” it is such a calming and gentle 2 hours. Vast tundra set in the twilight of an Artic winter, with two Sami women leading their reindeer and sledges, delivering mail etc.
The walk on the edge of the Tiara forest that holds a third of the world’s trees and completely encircles the globe.

It is glorious viewing.

Its the moronic handclapping that gets to me- they carry on when the music has stopped!

Luckygirl Sun 17-Dec-17 10:24:03

So agree - this is the second time I have watched the sleigh ride - I love these slow TV programmes. I sat in front of the wood burner stitching a tapestry and just relaxed - wonderful!

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Dec-17 10:28:08

You're not alone Bridgeit

We rarely watch Strictly but thought we would watch to see who won last night, the mute button was in operation much of the time!

Witzend Sun 17-Dec-17 10:28:58

Have never watched Strictly. My dd thinks I'm weird! She was all excited last night about the final.
Last night I watched a recorded old episode of Taggart - zoom through the ads - and fell asleep on the sofa before the end, as is so often my wont.

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Dec-17 10:30:12

Thank you for the tip about Sleigh Ride - I must watch it.

Bridgeit Sun 17-Dec-17 17:48:46

So sorry for the oversight in misspelling Stricly ,Strictly ,I m
usually on the ball with spelins (Haha spelling)but thanks for pointing it outMawBroon, must have been the excitement of starting a thread ?

I used to like Come Dancing, even at a young age. I’ve never really taken to Strictly.
But I can appreciate how others would enjoy it.

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Dec-17 20:38:17

How did you do that Bridgeit ?

MamaCaz Sun 17-Dec-17 20:49:42

I'm with you, Bridgeit. I don't even remember children screaming and whooping like that when I was young, let alone adults. It seems to be the norm now, but i really, really don't like it!

Eloethan Mon 18-Dec-17 01:01:06

I do like Strictly but agree that some of the jokes, antics, screeching and jumping around are becoming very irritating. My cousin says that she turns the sound off for everything but the dancing.
