The Churchill Memorial Trust makes 100 awards each year for overseas travel of 4-8 weeks to study a subject in one of the designated categories. This year there is an Arts and Older People category.
For more information and how to apply see wcmt.org.uk
I was a Churchill Fellow in 1992 and it can be a life changing experience. There's no reason why an 'older person' shouldn't apply.

Interesting. Something to ponder. Thank you GadaboutGran.

I used to think about applying for one. Oddly, now I'm older I've lost the motivation somewhere along the way. Pity.
GadaboutGran - What did you study, and where did you go?

I'd forgotten I'd put this information on this thread!! I put it somewhere else a few weeks later. But I can remember where I went. Four weeks in Australia, 11 days in New Zealand and some interviews on the way home in California where my family joined me and we had a memorable holiday in an RV.
I studied disasters and how schools and communities responded to them.

Once a fellow always a fellow and you can join in events and tours with other fellows in the District Associations. Recently we went on a tour of Blenheim Palace and I met some amazing people from all walks of life.
