Did any of you fellow wackies see the Mr Brainwash exhibition in New Oxford St in August? So anarchic and such fun.

Avril Paton's paintings of the buildings are not really my taste, although I loved the sky in Bedsits.
The one I though said so much and was full of life was "Rainmates". I could live with that painting.

Apologies to Avril - I put April as she had been in my mind....

AlieOxon I know & love that village, so much so that I named one of our dogs Corrie. She was the best natured dog we have ever had.

According to the article, in 1973 a blizzard swept Glasgow and she started to paint the tenement opposite; started with a section of it but it just got bigger and bigger. It took her 6 months. She then turned her talents to abstract painting. There must be something magical about it as it was the only painting that stayed with me after I had visited the Gallery.

Oh I love those sort of places; have yet to visit Saltair and Port Sunlight although I did live close to Bournville.

I have just Googled Windows in the West and I see why you are so attracted to it. I wouldn't say no to one of her paintings!

One of the many lovely things that happened at the Edinburgh meet-up yesterday was that baubles gave soop and me each a card print of the painting Windows in the West. So kind and thoughtful. Thank you again, baubles .
And for the cards and info about New Lanark which all of us were given. A fascinating place, gn-ers. Do visit if you get the chance. It,s reputed to have had the first nursery school in the world, among other things.

Article says that Windows in the West was possibly removed from the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art as it was slightly kitsch or 'gemutlich'. Why do we not have such wonderful words in our language and why did I hate German so much at school [I know; it was the grammar ]?

ssop; if you google 'Ian Jack Snow Business' you'll find an article I read in The Gueardian years ago when I recognised it as the painting I'd seen and loved [it's so voyeuristic]. Oh I love Windows in the West. Am I right in thinking it is/was in the Art Gallery in Glasgow? I've just discovered Peter Brook [e]s [?] paintings. You have to see them up close to appreciate the gentle humour in them.

Hey, I MET April Paton as a child and have recently rediscovered her as an artist - love the Glasgow houses and 'Rain Mates' pics.

How? My parents used to go on holiday to Arran and stay at Corrie, and I played with this little girl called April......
We hired bikes from her parents and rode round the island, me on the crossbar of my dad's. The rediscovery was via a mention in my dad's diary of the 40s, of how nice the Patons were.

Thanks for sharing. My grandaughter and grandson, both studying photography and graphic design will enjoy Heine's unique talent. They have many books on Bansky's art. Mostly given as gifts to them, from me.
