Mystery pattern.

I've lost the pattern!
I started a shawl seven years ago (yes I know).
Due to various house moves and illness I've now got the knitting but no pattern
In a vain hope that someone remembers knitting it or just remembers it.

You had to start by knitting many leaves for the border.
I have a circular needle here with loads of leaves.
The next step was to knit across to join them all together and thus the body of the shawl was started.

It was in a knitting magazine, the pattern title was, I think, Autumn leaves or lavender leaves.
It was shown knitted in lavender, the wool was, I think, Sirdar, Country Style DK. I think.

The photo was a whole page of a model wearing it.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

It started by knitting leaves on a circular needle.

Perhaps look in a wool shop which sells Sirdar, some shops keep old patterns

Was it this (Ravelry)

MawBroon Mon 01-Oct-18 09:12:43

If not, could you adapt it?

gmelon Mon 01-Oct-18 09:46:27

Ooh i do like that. mawbroon
Its not the one but is a lovely pattern and now I'd like to knit that one grin.

Contact Sirdar. I now scan my patterns as I have lost the original and had to improvise a finish. Good luck.

It was a lace pattern but not too fine.
The annoying thing is I've got the magazine but I've got over two hundred knitting magazines and need to persuade a willing helper to help me look. (Multiple sclerosis ).
I'll never find it.
Nowa days I print them out.

feeling my age
What a good idea I'll email Died at.
I copy and print mine now but scanning is a better idea as I can't lose the print out.

Email sirdar

I've had a look but no joy, sorry!

It would be best to email sirdar - they were very helpful when I had a problem with some yarn a while ago. In fact, I think I messaged them on FB first of all and got a very prompt response.

Thank you for looking jalima1108
I'm getting on to Sirdar, wish me luck.

Other than that maybe someone has a use for 64 knitted leaves in 4ply? grin

It sounds like you have already done the border, could you maybe adapt another shawl pattern in the same weight?
Or contact the magazine and ask if they would send you a copy, just an idea.
Sounds a lovely pattern though.

cascats I may adapt something, at the moment I am unhealthily obsessed determined to track this down grin

A very helpful lady at Sirdar says that the magazines source their own patterns
.
None of the designs in the magazines will be from Sirdar albeit using Sirdar wool.

Looks like those magazines of mine will have to be searched. There are boxes and boxes of them. sad
I just know I'll be sidetracked into reading them grin

Over a year ago I made a plea for help tracking down a magazine knitting pattern.
See my OP above.

Today a friend was helping me look through some old wool and lo and behold a scrap of photocopied pattern giving me just a bit of the directions . The key is the magazine name and date is thankfully at the foot of the page on some publications. I had this info at last.

So do I look through all my magazines or see if I can buy one online dated 2012. Im happy grin
I then googled and discovered the pattern came as a Mother's day supplement to the magazine sad

Can you believe it hmm

Thankfully people sell anything and everything on eBay.
I've tracked it down.

Today I have ordered an original booklet from a lady raising money for a cat charity.
Eight years later the sixty four leaves can achieve their purpose.
Hurray hurray.

Just in case anyone cares what the fuss was about look on eBay for "Simply Knitting Fab for Mums".
The shawl is on the front cover of booklet shown.
I fell in love with it.

Jalima1108 Tue 12-Feb-19 23:06:31

Oh well done!
Happy knitting smile

gmelon. This one then? Violet Spring Clematis Shawl by Elizabeth Jarvis. Suggested yarn Sirdar Country Style 4 Ply and inspired by the clematis Mr President. If it is the one, the pattern is still available to buy via Ravelry if anyone else wants to try it.

Yes Fountainpen that is the one.
I had no idea of the proper name of the shawl so thank you smile

RosieLeah Sat 16-Feb-19 06:06:13

Success...how lovely to have a happy ending!

mimismo Sun 17-Mar-19 18:28:02

So - did you finish the shawl?

gmelon Tue 19-Mar-19 14:46:37

I resumed the shawl knitting. Then my dratted lovely husband asked for a ribbed scarf "because its cold in the mornings" and two of my three sons admired the scarf and well........
