Back in July, gransnetters nominated their favourite character in film, television or radio drama for The Roses, media awards for the portrayal of older people.

After much cogitating wine here at GNHQ, we've drawn up a shortlist and you have until Friday 5 October to vote for the winner.

Michael, Judi, Judy, Maggie or Tom?

Check out the shortlist here and cast your vote. www.gransnet.com/life-and-style/activities/the-roses

What some boring choices!

They've all been there, done that, and probably chucked the t-shirt out long ago. hmm

JO4 Mon 01-Oct-12 14:58:15

There are up and coming older actors. hmm

Like the one I recommended.

GillieB Mon 01-Oct-12 15:06:54

i don't even know who two of them are!

Just be glad you haven't had to wade through 10 articles and three television programmes on dementia, like me.

This bit is easy.

jeni Mon 01-Oct-12 16:37:29

Geraldine! Was it enough to send you demented?

JO4 Mon 01-Oct-12 16:50:18

Yes. I'm sure it was easy. You used a pin didn't you? hmm

Barrow Tue 02-Oct-12 13:13:35

I love Judi Dench but have to agree with JO4 there are other actors - perhaps we could have a second list not comprising of the usual suspects.

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 02-Oct-12 13:26:05

I did not use a pin, much as I was tempted as I balanced my laptoop on my knee so I could listen to radio programmes as I drove around at the weekend.

I have very assiduously watched all the programmes and read all the articles. I am getting a judging lunch tomorrow smile but it's scheduled to take four hours shock hmm

Sorry, some of the less usual suspects only had one vote on the thread or sometimes they hadn't done anything in the last year.

We spent ages debating the shortlist, honestly.

I am tempted to say the judges' decision is final. But that means you, really.

" I balanced my laptop on my knee so I could listen to radio programmes as I drove around at the weekend."

He he he.

Poor old sausage! grin

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 02-Oct-12 14:17:12

<curses fact we don't have a sausage emoticon>

Barrow Tue 02-Oct-12 15:44:41

Balanced your laptop on your knee whilst driving around shock. I think I am going to have an attack of the vapours!

POGS Tue 02-Oct-12 20:04:56

Cari

I thought you had given JO 4 her sausage emotican on Site Stuff, then I realised it was a moon. Sorry. blush

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 02-Oct-12 20:10:45

It's a very versatile moon. Indeed it could be a sausage wrapped in silver foil? confused

POGS Tue 02-Oct-12 20:19:01

Cari, not confused but blush which could lead on to a wink which might make someone grin or ofcourse another hmm, hopefully nobody will be shock and all will smile

wine

jeni Tue 02-Oct-12 20:25:12

grin

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 02-Oct-12 21:15:53

But if I have to much wine wine wine I will definitely be confused and the only option will be moon (which in this case could either be bed or a foil wrapped sausage...I don't suppose I would mind which if I'd had that much. Hic

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 02-Oct-12 21:17:03

oops - clearly that should be TOO much. I am a pedant of the highest order. Just can't type

JO4 Tue 02-Oct-12 22:16:39

She's lost it.

At last.

hmm grin

Ana Tue 02-Oct-12 22:24:42

Could be a toenail....hmm

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 03-Oct-12 09:39:15

Toenail! That's what it reminded me of Ana!

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 03-Oct-12 10:05:21

J04 - at last???????

JO4 Wed 03-Oct-12 10:07:59

grin

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 03-Oct-12 10:09:11

It happened long since. And don't worry - you are not entirely to blame grin

JO4 Wed 03-Oct-12 10:29:37
