I am a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapist), and I am also an emotional eater, and have recopgnised this, and my weight reflects how happy/sad I am in my life. It is rcognised as an eating disorder. Your G.P should be able to refer you to therapies (talking or CBT, or both) and this can be done through the NHS. There is a waiting list for these types of therapies. It is all linked around low self-worth, low self-esteem etc. Please seek help with this....it helped me get my mojo back, although I'm aware now I do slip off the wagon so to speak, and it is, for me anyway, a condition for life.
