Thank you, folks. I am in touch with our friends in Durban, and will find out about the children. One idea I've had is getting a club to sponsor a school, which, for the ones in the photos I posted, would be great. I am most concerned about the little crèche that uses old containers as classrooms, though - again, I think I posted those photos. And the children's home..

Thank you ariadne I enjoyed having it all tied together, and would be interested to hear how the team get on.

I was wondering if you'd return, Ariadne - but meanwhile the concept of building a team to help develop the expertise in Kwazulu Natal is excellent. Hope it works out. I'd be interested in hearing about the progress of the children, too.

We may go back; (we is not just Theseus and me, you understand!)are looking to send out a multi disciplinary Vocational Team of, say, medics, early years teachers / trainers etc, for a month to one area to help local people build their expertise. There wasn't room to tell you about the children's home we visited, where that would be useful. But it would have broken your heart.

I'd love to go to Capetown, though. But there's still Australia to visit, and back to the States....

Thank you Ariadne that's so interesting and I would love to know more about the schoolchildren and how their education is progressing. Will you return to Kwazulu Natal?

Thank you for your blog, Ariadne. It pulled together the information you'd already given us and you evoked the 'feel' of the country very successfully.

Not good! But yes, the smiles were everywhere. I am in love with Kwazulu Natal!
Thank you, Butter

Ariadne - I thoroughly enjoyed your blog and the one thing I was left with was that everyone you met appeared happy regardless of their tough life. Inspiring.
