This week's guest blog post is by Jean Burnett - who spent most of her adult life trying to write a novel and finally managed it as a grandmother. Persistence clearly pays!

Welcome from one Granny Writer to another. I didn't start writing until my three children were at secondary school. I can't claim to be an overnight success as it is a BIG world out there, but I do enjoy developing stories and I now have 22 published, mainly Scottish family sagas.

I firmly believe you can teach an old dog new tricks. Well done JB. The more new things we do as we age the slower we age.

I wish I had the courage of my convictions. I believe I can write and am coordinating a U3A creative writing group. We seem to have quite a lot of collective talent. Congratulations to both of you.
