Would anyone else admit to the fact that they sit down in the bath whilst having an overhead shower, can't be bothered standing....having struggled to get into the bath and get out......Grief I'm only 63

I shower every morning and find I can wash my feet quite adequately (despite arthritis) by putting plug in bath and paddling .I place a sponge in and squelch it around my toes so they are clean as well .Hope this helps .

Usually shower, but I do love a hot bath, lots of bubbles and a good book. This happens rarely now though, and I do have trouble getting out, so I get in, turn round, go onto my knees and sort of slither onto my backside. Then reverse when getting out. I am looking forward to a shower when the dressing comes off my knee, but our shower is an over the bath sort, so will have to figure out the knee bending angle firstconfused. Meanwhile the good old fashioned way, strip wash at the sink grin

I hate showers, other than for hair washing.
I'm a bubble bath lover, just like OlderNoWiser, add a good book and that's me sorted.

Being lucky enough to have both a bath and separate shower I rarely get in the bath and certainly don't wash my hair in it - the water would be everywhere! We took the bath out of the main bathroom and put a large walk in shower in it's place. I don't think my other half has had a bath since - he would definitely struggle to get up grin

I find it easier washing my hair when sitting on a stool. My balance is not 100% so it is safer for me. Showers every time. For me to get in a bath would be like the sinking of the Titanic and getting out is almost impossible because of the metal in my lower limbs stops me from bending as I would like.

I can't remember the last time I had a bath. I certainly would ever get up again if I sat in the bath. Our shower head is fully adjustable for height and angle so with your back to it hair washing is simple. The head detaches from the bracket so can be hand held to wash "bits" and feet are washed by resting each of them on the side of the bath.
Easy peasy tchsmile

Give me a nice, relaxing, hot foam bath any day - Molton Brown bubbles, a few candles, a neck pillow, a glass of chilled white on the side ... what's not to like about that?

I don't think that I have had a bath for at least two and a half years, probably longer, but I do shower every morning. (Bath and shower are separate in this house and in the last two in which I lived.) I don't have a problem getting in or out of a bath but just prefer the quick convenience of a shower in the morning.

I never have a bath unless I am on holiday in a nice hotel. At home I have a lovely walk in shower with an overhead rain head and an angled head so you can choose whether or not to get your hair wet. You can get shower seats if you want to sit down I have seen them occasionally in Lidl.

rosesarered Wed 23-Dec-15 00:23:01

Never liked having a bath, always too hot or too cold, but with a shower you get it just right.Never thought to sit down but you can buy a folding stool to sit on in the shower if you really have to.??????

Nelliemoser Tue 22-Dec-15 23:55:28

I am lucky in that I can still sit in the bath but I cannot sit with my legs out in front of me as it makes my back hurt. It's lie down in the bath or nothing. I usually shower.

merlotgran Tue 22-Dec-15 23:08:42

Our shower head is angled so it's easy to wash you hair if you stand with your back to it. Same effect as a backwash at the hairdresser.

Have a shower every morning- just can't do without one- standing of course- just don't get the idea of sitting down for a shower?!?

Rarely have a bath these days as my bad knee makes it difficult to get out again. BUT good job I learnt a great tip when learning to snowboard in my 50s . lol- best way to get up is to turn over on your stomach and get up on knees- extend good leg to end of bath for safe 'stop' and up- easy peasy.

Love a shower first thing in the morning. No problem washing my hair and 'bits' hmm but then I do have long arms ?

Baths are best for a nice relaxing soak, preferably in the evening, then changed into PJs and big furry dressing gown and big furry slippers.

Haven't had a bath in around 30 years......have a 'thing' about sitting in dirty water! Yeuch! Give me a shower any time.

Ana Tue 22-Dec-15 22:26:06

Me too, Elegran - in fact I never wash my face or hair in the shower, that's a separate exercise!

tanith Tue 22-Dec-15 22:22:46

Whats difficult about washing 'bits' and feet in the shower? Millions of people manage perfectly well. I suppose drop your sponge or scrunchy onto the floor to clean feet if its difficult for you but aren't your 'bits' always within reach?

Elegran Tue 22-Dec-15 22:20:32

If you have a grab handle you can hold on to that while you wash your bits and lift a foot to where you can reach it. I hate showers that only spray vertically down on the top of your head, as I don't like water pouring down my face, so I have one that can angle towards the back of my head and my shoulders.

Ana Tue 22-Dec-15 22:13:13

I don't see why you can't wash your 'bits' in a shower just as well as in a bath! You don't actually need to douche...

I can see that feet might be a problem if you can't lift them up to soap between the toes etc., but you can get knobbly foot pads to stand on which are supposed to help.

Treebee Tue 22-Dec-15 22:04:33

I hate showers. How do you clean your feet and your bits? I get water in my eyes and go blind groping around for the shower gel. I love to languish and relax in the bath.

Charleygirl Tue 22-Dec-15 21:55:17

I had the same problem as tanith so a few years ago I had my bath removed and a walk in shower fitted also. I also bought a stool because I cannot stand for long. It has made such a difference- it is so easy now.

Indinana Tue 22-Dec-15 18:37:06

I'm just a teeny bit green with tchenvy merlot

merlotgran Tue 22-Dec-15 18:13:07

After years of struggling to stand in the bath to have a shower we now have a lovely new shower room. No more baths to clean thank you very much.

Indinana Tue 22-Dec-15 18:10:21

Thanks Bella. As long as I remember not to try bending it, I'll be fine.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 18:10:19

I would hate to have a shower whilst sitting down. Just so wrong! tchgrin I prefer a smallish bath followed by a (standing up!) shower off.

I only find it hard to get out of a bath if it is one of those huge ones you sometimes get in holiday cottages. Then I have to go onto my knees first.
