All the more reason to continue to go then you can help those who are sicker than you by showing them they can get better.

Thank you. I'm already in touch with Mind but because I'm so well at the moment there's no point in going to the groups as they are for people much sicker than me.

Well done Cazz for being open about mental illness, I suggest you ring Mind on
020 8519 2122 and ask if theres any support groups in your area.

I too would gladly meet up with you if it were not for the distance. I wish you well and agree you are brave for posting, there are many many people like yourself who will take heart from you posting. Best wishes.

If I lived anywhere near Bagshot, I'd willingly meet you, however, it's a bit of a trek from Cheshire. I do know that there are a good many grans in Surrey and close by, so you could be lucky, Cazza. I hope you do meet up with some sympathetic souls.

Sorry Cazza. Depression is awful, says one who has been there and now over the worst, not exactly sprinting for the finish line but just getting there slowly.
SAD is the killer for me, and I have been escaping for the last 15 years to sunny climes, but not this winter coming. I have to get a grip and hope I do.

I note you want to, hopefully, meet someone near Bagshot, sorry I live N of the Border. to meet up with.

I dont know what the footfall on this site is, but my guess there aint so many folk here near bagshot and your post , unless Im wrong will fall down the back of the computer.

Anyone else who can help please.

I have suffered from depression for around 40 years, there it's out there. Why do I feel as if I'm 'coming out' to everyone when I admit that?
I have lost friends and family through my condition. I have attempted suicide and that's hard to take for my husband, children and anyone who's close to me. I generally have a relapse on average every one to two years.
I am, however a really cheerful, positive person, people often appear shocked that I suffer from depression as I am so cheerful and friendly, but you know what? it's an illness like any other which can strike indiscriminately at all of us at anytime.
It's an incredibly lonely illness.
I am 58 now and have been advised by doctors to give up work. I still manage, however to volunteer for a few hours each week with the elderly in a day centre and I love it! I paint their nails and give them relaxing neck and shoulder massages, and listen to all their worries and woes.
I have two sons and three grandchildren but they all live away so I don't see them much. My husband works so I spend a lot of my time alone.
I live in Bagshot and after everything you've read about me would anyone like to meet up for a coffee nearby? I'd love to chat to anyone that would like to get to know me better....
