I might be a bit dense (please say so, I won't be offended!!!) but I'm trying to see how to get/apply for the free book offer. Click here to find says but the next page doesn't say how to at all! Or have all the freebies been snapped up already? If that's the case I wish someone would say... I'll try to be faster next time...

You have to be one of the first 250 people to join gn smile

Dare say I'm way down the list then - never mind! Glad I'm here anyway...

tiggy Sun 08-May-11 09:22:49

I presume you can buy it from dare I say it amazon?

mollie Sun 08-May-11 10:35:26

Yes, of course, just lured by the chance of a freebie!!! smile smile

We'll be contacting the first 250 people who signed up to let them know they've won a free book in the next few days. But do get hold of a copy anyway as the author's coming on for a web chat in a couple of weeks, and it will be a chance to discuss the book with her.

Thanks, Geraldine... smile

And the name of the book is?

Suzie Tue 10-May-11 08:44:40

Looking forward to reading the book and using the forum!

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 10-May-11 09:11:34

The name of the book is Benny and Shrimp and it's by Katarina Mazzetti. You can read a bit of blurb about it here:
Be interesting to know what everyone makes of it...

How do we know how many new members have signed up? If there are only 249 I stand a chance of getting a copy of the book then.

hoping this gets into one of the books of the month

Grannygru Fri 13-May-11 13:12:27

A free copy would be most welcome, knowing 'yes' or 'no' asap would be useful!

sulu Sun 15-May-11 20:19:32

Hi I just saw the ad for Book Club, I only joined last night after reading about it in The Lady. How long do we have now before we discuss/review Benny & Shrimp?

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 16-May-11 09:38:58

Sulu we're just waiting to hear back when the author can make it, but it should be in a few weeks' time - plenty of time for you to read it!

gma Wed 18-May-11 16:28:36

Just been to library to pick up my reserved copy of Benny and Shrimp. First few pages are most promising!!!! Pity that I am out tonight, it will have to wait until tomorrow!!! grin

eGJ Wed 18-May-11 20:53:42

My Benny & the Shrimp has just arrived from Amazon (I wasn't one of the 250!) Do let us know when the author gets back to you so we know how many weeks we have! Reading time a little on the short side at the moment; juggling cups, plates, babies & monkeys at the moment! Books may have to wait. ..................did peep at the first few pages though!

Really enjoying Benny and Shrimp. Had to give the lawn mower a miss this afternoon so I could start reading. Well, we have had no rain since 26th March so grass is not growing very much anyway. wink Back to Benny and Shrimp........
