"Out with the radio car to review a new film, "Dr Doolittle", the morning programme presenter John Walmsley and myself were not familiar with the habit of hospitality at 11 am. Neither of us made it on air at lunchtime, due to difficulties in describing Dr Doolittle's transport, a shiant pink shea shnail"

I am sorry, I just had to include sentence six as well.

From Kate Adie's autobiography, "The Goodness of Strangers"

I like this game. Can we quote sentence 5 on page 52 of other books, as well as just the nearest?

I can't guess ANY of these. Grannybug, what on earth...?

It's difficult to do that with Kindle, but I've just finished one in paperback to here goes: '
Pertinax and Publius assumed I was a villain.'

"He darted enthusiastically round the bathroom, flapping his lovely angel,s wings, alternatively perching and flying while we immersed the noxious object in the bath to dissolve some of the noisome patina of staling shit"
Hey ho

Crikey, Bags what on earth are you reading?
Here's mine from a book I am struggling with, one of those 'I've started so I'll finish' books. Actually its a 'two in one'. This is from part one:
'Say nothing.'
Sorry Bags, you only wanted a sentence and I've almost written an essay! blush

Ah ha! I've just done it on facebook smile - but will do it again here because it's good fun and very interesting.........

Here's mine:

"So I spent the evening at home, reading."

Ignore "as your status" unless you're doing it on Facebook smile

It's international book week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence as your status. Don't mention the title.

Here's mine:

"The system, however, only worked if the superiority of their ancestors was imaginary and standards basically remained the same."
