Starting the thread a little early (before the books have been sent out! Don't panic!) to add something more to the details on the book club page

Here is a letter from Laurie, the author, which offers insight into why she chose to write this particular story. I read it before I read the book and found that it resonated even more because of it.

Hello.
Can you please tell me how to join the book club?
Regards.
Yvonne.

It has arrived today at a very opportune time. I've just finished reading Michael Connelly's latest Harry Bosch crime novel, one of his best.

Hi Jane

So - midway through the month we launch the giveaway element of our next book club choice. We put it on the home page, the books index and in the newsletter and there's usually a week or so to apply. We ask people ONLY to put themselves forward for a free copy if they are able to commit to reading and adding thoughts/questions for the author within the time frame specified on the page. We always get far more applicants than we have books though, so we draw names from the hat and those 50 people get the books.

Thank you very much for my copy, which has just arrived. I'm looking forward to reading it - as soon as I can finish Wolf Hall!

Mine arrived this morning! Thank you! I have a borrowed book to finish so I'm rushing through it. I have to be strict with myself or I end up with several books on the go at once and get all confused!

annsixty Tue 31-Jan-17 13:54:28

I have started reading my copy. Different to say the least.

Candelle Tue 31-Jan-17 14:35:39

I collected my copy from our post office this morning.

I have one chapter of my current book left so the timing has been perfect for me. I can't wait to begin reading this book with its interesting (and probably challenging) topic and will be very happy to provide a critique.

Thank you Gransnet HQ!
