I've spent the last few days pondering over birthday presents for my grandson who will be twelve tomorrow. I left it late because I only saw him for the first time in weeks yesterday, although I had asked several times by text. Even he can't think of what he would really like. He's got lots of things that he needs, so this time, rather than buying him a bike or motorised lego, or all the other things I've suggested and he doesn't want or need, I'm going out shortly to get him a selection of books and small surprise treats and put them all in a big box. He's not yet reached the age when his world will expand and he will want to try lots of new hobbies and adventures. Speaking to my family, they have all said the same - internet suggestions for 'gifts for a 12 year old boy' are useless, and everyone has struggled this year. Do you find you are stumped for great ideas for relatives and friends of any age, too? If you jave received or given a really great gift, it would be good to hear what it was, please.
