You need this especially if you are speaking the message to be typed. I’m sure my phone deliberately turns some of my messages into garbage. E.g. my daughter, receiving this message, ‘Hope you’re feeding butter son’ texted back, Type it instead of saying it or check it Mum.
If you are doing a language course online you can lose lots of points by speaking the answer.

Im considering doing a proofreading course, as I seem to have an ability to spot errors very quickly, following working in a GP practice computerising patient medical records and hospital letters. I get kindle free books and some of the ' bloopers' Ive come across are hilarious. One I can remember is where the police found a body in the dessert. Reminded me of the jokes about elephants and custard.
