Supper or Tea or Dinner?

Tea time

Lunch some time around 1. Dinner some time after 6.

Dinner at 6pm except Sundays when dinner is lunchtime and tea at 5ish.

Tea at 6ish, unless we have friends round, then it's dinner at 8. D

Our dinner at 1 seems to have morphed recently into lunch, because that's what all the grandsons call it and we don't want to confuse them. Though Sunday dinner remains just that.

In Glasgow the evening meal is always "tea". Later on, you might have "supper". Midday is dinner. Don´t know about the rest of Scotland.

I remember Scottish High Tea. A million calories at one sitting.

Tea at 5.30 usually. Both DDs eat dinner slightly later. Culture change or because our kids were born further south than DH and I?

Lunch at lunchtime! Supper at 7.00ish, when I was a child, dinner was midday, tea was 6.00

Whatever we eat between 12 and 3 is called lunch, anything after 5pm is dinner. Apart from Sunday when lunch is anytime between 1pm and 6pm and anything eaten later is tea.

Lunch at lunch time. Dinner in the evening. Tea (and a piece of cake or a biscuit perhaps) at 4.30pm ish, Supper at 10pm ish. I would be unlikely to have them all!

My eldest DGS has school dinners.

My other DGS has lunch before he goes to nursery.

We have lunch.

We all have Tea.

If we are going out for evening meal which is after 7pm then we are going out to Dinner.

If we are eating out around 5ish usually with grandchildren then we are out for Tea.

Breakfast 7 am ish dinner as was ( or lunch as is) 12-1 and tea around 5, supper, if any, is a snack before bed

I grew up eating breakfast, dinner, tea and supper too BlueBelle. We still have dinner at about 1.00pm. Our evening meal is a moveable feast though. We've been late tonight, so we've had supper.

It all depends. We have our main meal at lunch time. But in the evening, generally we have supper but if it is tea food (sandwiches, scones etc and cake) we call it tea. Because we tend to do this on Sunday and get the nice china and a cloth out, this is generally referred to as a 'dainty tea'. If we are going somewhere very nice to eat - to celebrate a special occasion then we go out to dinner. Do not do dinner parties, we prefer to invite people round for lunch

Any evening meal is supper or dinner and is usually our larger meal of the day. Supper is used more colloquially as in "what's for supper, Hun?" whereas a Saturday or Sunday may include a "please come for dinner".

Even if we do a large meal on a holiday it is called lunch if it is mid-day.

One thing I've never understood for some European countries that eat late, for example after 7:30 or 8:00. Do you expect children to last that long? Normally her they would be in bed by that time.

Breakfast between 7.30-9.00 except on Sunday/Saturday when we have "brunch" between 10.00 - 12.00.

Lunch between 12.00 - 2.00 except Saturday/Sunday.

Dinner between 19.00 - 20.00 every day.

Husband has supper normally cheese around 21.00-21.30 some evenings.

Lunch for meal eaten in the middle of the day. If eating a main meal in the evening, I'd call it dinner. If having a snack such as egg on toast, I'd call it tea.

Dinner around 1 pm, Tea about 7 pm, supper is anything we have just before bed.

Lunch then supper, unless eating out and then it's dinner.

Depends who with, and which part of the country - every option possible in our life lol
